All Americans should be glad that a black American has been able to make it to the presidency,

Quite the contrary: I am disgusted that, in the XXI Century, anybody gives a rip what colour his skin is.

No...we are still here and we plan on fighting to take this party back from the brink of populist insanity!

Fox news did a poll and discovered that 50% of the respondents still thought the Congress was controlled by the GOP.

I’m getting out of the Political thing. I watched my eight-year-old crying last night. It won’t happen again.

Now is the time to take care of your own. If I see a movement happen that I can support, cool. Otherwise, I’m just watching out for me and mine.

I think my political junkie days are over as well. I think in the future, there will be one party, with a conservative wing to it which will hitherto be the minority wing.

Perhaps Conservatives are sheeple too...

More like political wussies.

Republicans got their heads handed to them by the Alinskyites in the Democrat Party because they are either too dense to realize they are in a street fight or too weak to do what it takes to win.

This is a good article. Reagan was a man that regular folks identified with. When McCain did it, he seemed like a phony. His reactions appeared calculated rather than sincere. Sarah was obviousy a breath of fresh air, but McCain felt stale in comparison.

Meanwhile, while the conservative values are timeless, the conservative message came off as stale and boring too.

So what do we do? First we determine where we strayed. We repent. And we earn the trust of the people once more. That will not happen overnight. It will take time. But we need to have a message that is rooted in an intense interest for people rather than mere adherence to an ideology.

And herein we have a challenge: we are great at advance the what of conservatism, but not the why. Why these values matter to a guy driving a truck or a single mom.

But we have time. Let's take the time to reconnect to our roots, our values, our history. I think we can do that.

"The Democratic majority in Congress will be slightly smaller than the one that greeted President Clinton in 1993, but much more homogeneous in its liberalism."

It may be 56 Dem Senate seats, but with RINOS: Colins, Snowe, Specter and others, they have their filibuster-proof Senate. The Liberals can pass anything and appoint anyone.

"Don’t get on your knees."

I'll be on my knees praying.

To be honest, we're seriously considering buying a gun. We have a couple of the long kind (shotgun or rifle) that are family heirlooms, but those don't count. We don't have a 'thing' against guns, just don't want to purchase one without also taking the time to know it well. I've always thought target shooting would be fun..even my dainty and very proper Grandma use to target shoot in high school. I'd hate for the chance (right, privilege) to purchase a firearm to pass and us left without.

I haven't talked to my 21 yr old daughter yet, but I'm pretty sure she's STILL proud she cast her first ever Presidential ballot for McCain/Palin. My 17 yr old left for school this morning, dressed to attend the funeral of a classmate, so we didn't talk politics. Yesterday I overheard her telling one of her friends that "Hillary would be better than 0bama!"

Tell your 8 yr old, for me, that sweet diane believes that God is still in control! I don't understand His will, yet His will remains perfect. :)
unless, of course, you find that last sentence offensive... if that is the case it is just for you!

Ironicly, Showtime is airing the movie World Trade Center this morning.

I couldn't even listen to local news this morning..haven't watched any news for more than 2 minutes since voting.

I'll be watching this circus unfold while on my knees praying.

I think I'm there, too. It's been too long a road. I've been fighting these battles for going on 50 years now, from before the time I was able to even cast a vote (not a member of ACORN, you see). That this country would throw away all that I and those who have gone before me (parents, siblings) have worked to build in favor of a Marxist clown affirmative-action nobody is about the last nail in the coffin.

For the next generation, maybe longer, the national political alignment will look a lot like NY State. One dominant political party, a few token non-Party pols scattered here and there, and a permanent minority wing.

It really wouldn't matter how many Senate seats we had. The filibuster days are over-the thugocracy will see to that. Who would dare filibuster when their children or grandchildren's lives are threatened? Who will come forward as a conservative candidate under the same? The rules have changed--forever. There are no laws anymore.

I agree completely — just why should all Americans be glad that a black American(?) has been able to make it to the presidency? I thought we were striving for a color-blind society.

For eight long years the msm lurched from one false attack on our President to the next.

Facts and/or truth never mattered. It was always the agenda.

Destroy this president, denigrate America, hate democracy.

Early bird registration for CPAC ends Friday. I guess I will sign up. I wonder how the landscape will be looking by Feb. 26.

I suspect like in 1993 there will be a record number of attendees at the conference. I would not be surprised though if there is some kind of goon squad outside protesting or even threatening people going to the conference.

Unfortunately Sarah Palin will be remembered for being apart of this train wreck. I hope that she will be back for 2012 with her original freedom oriented politics in tow. Without being forced to conform to McCain’s big government schtick, she can be the future of conservatism.

But to judge from his campaign, he is a man who wants to cut taxes, defend an individual right to own guns, take a hard line on terrorists in Pakistan, reduce the abortion rate, allow people to keep their health-care plans, and keep trade free.

Are they out of their minds? I never expected this level of naivete from NRO. Statements like this make it clear the Kool Aid is slowly making its way into their bloodstream, too.
