Michael Dell spent the past 21 months cutting employees, slashing costs and reshaping Dell Inc. to make it more competitive in a changing personal-computer marketplace. Now, with a brutal economy forcing customers to cut back on technology spending, he's turning to his workers for more help.
In a memo Monday, Dell asked employees throughout the company to consider taking off as many as five days without pay over the next three months. In addition, he said, the company would institute a hiring freeze, scale back some projects, offer voluntary severance packages and cut many of its contract workers.

I wonder how much of a pay cut Dell executives took. I’m guessing unprecedented raises and bonuses.
To be overheard at Dell: “Were you happy when Obama was elected President?”
“Why yes I was! Finally a president that is for me and not for greedy corporations.”
“Well then I’m sure he’ll take care of you now that you’re out of a job. Goodbye.”

ya know....I’ll be purchasing an “All-in-one” in the next few months, and the contenders are Dell, Apple, & Sony.
If I align my consuming with my politics, Sony may be the least liberal play....besides....Consumer Reports likes that one best....
Man, Apple let go the man who invented the iPod and iTunes yesterday...
In the spirit of the recent election why not create a new tax where DELL can withhold a sizable sum of employees paychecks in return for providing them a job. I’m sure the libs in Congress would think its a good idea but they would expect a piece of the action so it would have to be a pretty hefty tax. DELL can list the deduction as “PATRIOTISM TAX” in honor of Joe Biden.
Lots of banks and other IT users won’t be buying
computers any time soon...........
Michael Dell gives almost exclusively to Republicans.
I promise everyone that 90% of his employees are left wing liberal hippies. It’s in Austin. Well, actually Round Rock but close enough. This is one of the blue areas of Texas. And there have been so many foreclosures there that you can no longer get mortgage insurance which means you have to pay 20% down with perfect credit.
