Duh. The Blues move into Red territory to escape high taxes and fees. But they bring their stupid ideology with them — which creates high taxes and fees where ever they move.
They are a plague. A virus.
May they all die. Soon.
“Duh. The Blues move into Red territory to escape high taxes and fees. But they bring their stupid ideology with them which creates high taxes and fees where ever they move.”
Precisely.
But this goes beyond that people that still vote Republican have been hyped up by Obama.
I don’t think this election is any sort of turning point that indicates a sharp leftward shift in the electorate. Can we all agree that despite his many shortcomings, Barack Obama is an exceptional politician? That’s all this is.
People whom I know to be rock-ribbed free market conservatives voted for Obama because they were eager to vote for a black man - for the historical significance, because Obama is a master at appearing perfectly moderate and reasonable, and because his message inspired them.
We know that in general, the American voter is a lazy sort - not willing to look under the hood, so to speak. Obama looks good and sounds good. Plus, if we elect him we can pat ourselves on the back for having proved once and for all that America is no longer a racist country.
And McCain was not an attractive enough alternative. You have to work at liking McCain. It’s easy to like Obama. That’s why he won. Not because we are becoming a left-leaning populace.
This was a one-of-a-kind election. I don’t think it’s permanent.

The same thing has happened in the Rocky Mountain states, especially Nevada.
