A family of Barack Obama supporters awakened this morning to find a burned 6-foot cross on the front lawn of their home in northern Warren County, police said. The charred cross was partly wrapped with a homemade congratulatory banner that declared "President Obama Victory '08" and had been stolen from the lawn the night before, police said.

My first instinct is that these "Obama supporters" are white (since there are hardly any minorities in that part of New Jersey).
I'd also mention that this story has a ring of truth to it. For those of you who don't know Warren County or the layout of New Jersey, it's not all that unusual to find Confederate flags hanging in front of homes there. In fact, the rural character and hilly terrain there are such that if someone were blindfolded and brought there, they might swear they were in western Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, etc.
I'll also say that the more they harass his supporters (of any background) over race, the more they turn him into a martyr and the more they keep men like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan empowered.
Have to agree this doesn’t pass th smell test. The KKK was/is the terrorist wing of the democrat’s party so why would they burn a cross on their supporter’s lawn? Seems like perhaps this couple needed some attention to me? Just saying looks like another backwards B to me?
Yea sure. In Springfield? Just round up the 4 white people left in Springfield and question them!
Is there a teenager in the house? Always suspect the victim first and rule out everyone in the family. Then look for others.
If this happened, there is NO excuse for it. Violence only begets more violence until someone gets hurt or killed and then all h3ll will break loose.
I hope this was not personal to this family because it’s a truly stupid move and it does nothing to further the cause. People are so stupid that they try to “get rid of” the person or persons whom they think is causing their problem. Usually it’s the person himself/herself who is causing his/her own problem.

Instead of burning the cross, they should protest Obama by burning the American flag, an act which can never be a hate crime.
