Not sure what you mean by “high end” necessarily, unless you just mean more expensive.
My personal picks are:
For the home - Winchester Model 1300 Defender 12 GA 2 3/4 / 3”. It’s a pump with an 18” barrel. I use 4shot ammo which tends to have a spread of about 8” at 20 feet with this setup. It was a gift but these are quite inexpensive and require little to no maintenance.
For the car - Full size Bersa Thunder 9mm semi-auto with hammer decock/safety combo easily accessible with the thumb. Can initiate firing with double action, after which it’s single, or chamber with the slide for starting single action. Ran me about $350 at Academy. I use regular Winchester hollowpoints.
I’m still looking for a good CHL semiauto in 9mm that doesn’t cost a fortune. Small frame guy needs a small frame gun.
I have this also:

I recommend the Keltec 9MM; small frame. You can buy a kit to convert it to .40 cal.
Only jams I ever had with it were "nosedive" type, and replacing the clip fixed that.
I am partial to the Beretta 9000s. It is accurate (most important factor). It is also light and fits in the hand naturally. I got one for $350.
S&W 9SV (Sigma); they are on sale now for around $299 with a $50 dollar rebate or two mags. Ergonomically, the most comfortable auto pistol on the market. Function (I have a .40),
the only FTF or FTE I’ve had was with using Monarch ammo...I don’t use that anymore. Excellent bang (no pun intended) for the buck. It is a “striker “fired (essentially a double action auto)pistol; if you’d rather a DA/SA pistol, check out the FNH or CZ75...excellent choices. Buy more ammo.
Try GunsAmerica.com. I've used them and have had no problems.
