I think there are lots of things to bash him for but not this. He said his goodbyes to her. Think of the massive costs that would be incurred if he went to the funeral; the entourage (secret service, two planes, etc etc). Right now he has a hard time going to the gym in DC; he is flanked by SS.
Oh, big deal. If he had really loved her, he would be there to show his love and respect. The flat fact is, she served her purpose. He made his little jaunt during the campaign and did what he needed to do. Tough luck if he has a hard time getting to the gym.
