Winds were calm much of the day in Santa Barbara but, lots of ash and smoke all around. I left around 2:30 pm and the smoke from the Tea fire was whitish and went straight up. I am in Ventura (30 miles south of SB) now and its high temps, dry and windy.

My son reports that conditions (5:55 pm PST) in Goleta are currently dead calm and very warm.

The current fear is that the fire may actually burn southwest into higher density housing upslope of SB.
