We'll have to put up with him for at least 4 years,

We need to remember that Nixon was not accused of any actual crime. The Left's big argument was that he was stonewalling and lying. Nixon being honourable decided to forego any further nastiness, and not cause any Constitutional crisis, resigned.

What does this signify? It shows that High Crimes and Misdeanours are not really neccessary after all. It shows that in the case of Clinton the Right was more honourable and waited for him to lie to a Grand Jury (High Crime)before impeaching.

It also means that given any of the precedents set for Nixon or Clinton, the circumstances havre been met for removal from office.

Nixon was urged to contest the 1960 presidential election because of voter fraud in Illinois. The Daley Chicago democrat machine had produced at the last moment over 100,000 votes in Chicago that won Illinois for Kennedy. Nixon's response was that it would tear the country apart, taking months to settle, and he wouldn't do that. Damn Republicans, they just don't have to 'go for the throat' attitude of the Democrats.
