Conservative backlash begins against Barack Obama
Telegraph ^ | November 15, 2008 | Tim Shipman

Disgruntled conservatives are making plans to oppose his every move over the next four years, and - patricularly in some parts of the South - emotions are running high, sometimes spilling over into outright hostility.

Any hope that partisan rancour might ease after Mr Obama's historic election victory have been rapidly dispelled - not least in Georgia, where a bitter new Senate election battle is under way. Elsewhere, wrangles over continuing knife-edge Senate recounts in Minnesota and Alaska have ensured that the divisions in the run-up to the election persist.

Under Georgia law, a senator must win at least 50 per cent of the vote, but a third party candidate prevented Saxby Chambliss, the Republican incumbent, from doing so on election day and forced a run-off vote.

Republicans have begun running advertisements urging voters to back Senator Chambliss in the run-off vote against his Democrat opponent Jim Martin on Dec 2, warning that a Democratic victory could hand Mr Obama a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, giving his party almost unfettered power.

With emotions running high, Republican Congressman Paul Brown denounced Mr Obama as a Marxist, and compared his plans for a national service corps - to help out in natural disasters - to the formation of the Nazi brownshirts.

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany," he said. "We can't be lulled into complacency... Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler, what I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."

Conservative displeasure at the president-elect is not confined to Georgia. A Roman Catholic priest in South Carolina told his parishioners not to seek Holy Communion if they voted for Mr Obama,...

I agree with you 100%. Hugh Hewitt, Rush-- we were all proclaiming the MSM dead. Well guess what they just kicked our ass up and down this election.

They hated Romney, got rid of him. They made a parody out of Fred Thompson. They trashed Sarah Palin. Turned Maverick McCain into a crazy old man.

As for FOX, I don't know what's going on over there.

Did you read Ailes had a talk with O'Reilly and Hannity to back off Obama?

I think this must be true-- otherwise, I'm pretty sure Hannity would have mocked this relentlessly. The fact that he's silent on it tells me there is a graint of truth in the report.

Not me. Canceled my local paper years ago, and months ago deleted Fox from my channels. Don’t even click on links to the MSM. I allow “designated” trusted sources (such as Free Republic) to keep me updated without the editorialising from the left.

When does the liberal backlash against Sarah Palin end?

"Any hope that partisan rancour might ease after Mr Obama's historic election victory have been rapidly dispelled"

Who ever said there was hope for this? Obama?

Why? There would be no rancor because Because Obama said there wouldn't be any? Because he's always been so non partisan? WTF?

These people have gone way past delusional. They think that whatever they ever thought was wrong in the world was going to be magically fixed when that freaking liberal was elected?!?!

All I can say is that there are some stupid, stupid, stupid people in this world.

Our side either allows itself to be hung by the very principles we proclaim (though we don’t have to do that), or they don’t have any principles other than money and power, to begin with. The former is even worse than the latter, as it allows us no room to fight back.

They don’t really mean it, anyway. What they really mean is that we’re to all fall in line, while they keep the animosity that serves them (class warfare, race baiting) stirred up.

Americans will never consider the Obama presidency to be legitimate.

The guy cheated his way into power with illegal cash donations and massive ACORN vote fraud.

All while a fawning media refused to give him any serious “vetting”.

John Stuart will probably return to his career as a men’s room attendant in a San Francisco Bath House...

It won't. They didn't make her so they are trying to break her, here too they will fail.

I have no TV and no subscriptions to the MSM. They would be a waste of time as far as I am concerned.

Well, it’s been chanted for so long how “Dissent Is Patriotic” that I don’t think any of us should miss this chance to show how patriotic we are.

O’Reilly is a pansy when it came to 0bama. He came close to experiencing the leg thing that Chrissy had IMO. Hannity unleashes on his radio show daily. As for his show on Fox, I can not say. I stopped watching Fox following the 3rd debate. They, over the past five years or so, have become more and more like their counterparts in the Network MSM....

The last really big market crash before this one was in 1987. That one was blamed on programmed trading. Turned out one individual wrote most of the code for "programmed trading" ~ on a Commerce Department contract.

He used to work in our office. Definitely a genius class programmer, at the time I recalled that he hated the New York Times.

Although the NYT had a spotless financial record 21 years ago, the programmed trades SOLD every share of NYT in private hands.

Guess what happened this time? Few weeks ago a "computer program" rated NYT bonds at the "junk bond" level.

Coincidence?

Or maybe I should be laughing.

Exactly. Why would I give a Marxist a chance? I hate everything he stands for. He comes from a long line of Marxists/Communists.

Anyone who wanted to know the truth about Zero had much info to review well before the election, if they chose to do so. The idiots who voted for him either WANT his brand of governing or are too stupid to have noticed what they were voting for.
