Maybe the country would be better off in the long run if we let the Big Three fail, and in the process break the UAW labor monopoly, and then let Toyota, Honda (HMC) and Volkswagen (VLKAY.PK) take over the U.S. auto industry, and restore realistic, competitive, market wages to the industry. It might be the best long-run solution.
Your post had some good points but the above is simply breathtakingly stupid. It's surreal. Look I lack the time to respond but look at my posts to see how important it is to maintain our manufacturing technology. And by the way most JAG don't know jack about fighting. Maybe you are an exception. I don't know

I did not write the excerpt you quoted; I posted it for discussion in the context of the thread.
I have asked, though, whether the old rationals for maintaining industrial infrastructure (primarily the need to maintain a military production base) still apply, and do they still apply to the auto industry.
Views on that are welcome.
As for your other comments, all I can say is: You’re right. You don’t know.
