That's not what he said. He said she wouldn't be the "de facto" leader, and he's right. To anoint her so already would be a big mistake. She must earn it, as everyone else does.

The first thing she can do is to govern well; then write some things so that her name gets out there as associated with conservative ideas---just as Reagan did for 20 years. She needs to make some speeches---on her own, not as McCain's front-person.

I like Palin. She needs to show the commitment to winning the presidency that it requires. I'm sure she has it in her.

You’re right.

But as I judge most comments on this thread, it must be more fun to bash Newt as some sort of Manchurian RINO than to read and analyze what he actually said!
