President-elect Barack Obama says he and Republican Sen. John McCain plan to work together to "fix up the country."

The two former rivals met in Obama's transition office Monday in Chicago. Rahm Emanuel, Obama's incoming White House chief of staff, participated in the meeting, as did McCain's close friend, South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.

The opposition has to consist of presenting a better alternative for the people to see. Clearly expressed ideas, clearly expressed benefits.

I’m beginning to think McCain conned us all and never wanted to win in the first place.

What was your first clue..when he was taken aback by that poor "misinformed" little old lady whom he bashed for the camera? You know...when he gave his rousing and righteous endorsement of Obama?

Where’s the BARF ALERT!?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

We need a completely NEW alert:

"RINO knee pad alert!"

McCain is suckin' it big time.

Sounds like RINOs slurping at the trough.

( Obama: " John I will call for raising taxes, but I won't be serious.") Interesting that McCain is agreeing to cooperate with Obama without even a reference to an issue.

And Paulsen said today he wasn't going to touch the remaining TARP $350.00, leaving it for Obama's dispensation after his inauguration. The pork-a-ninies are lining up for handouts as we speak, including Kenyan dictator in waiting and Obama cousin, Prime Minister Odinga, Acorn, Freddie and Fannie ( defaulted mortgage rebates to buyers, [Barney Franks is salivating and getting hard]), and various Palestinian "peacemongers." AMERICANS WANT THAT MONEY BACK IN THEIR OWN POCKETS< UNUSED. Now it will go to establish a new socialist Utopia. SICK!!!!!!!

Who would buy any of this McCAin abdication other than as a desperate attempt by RINOs to keep control of the Republican Party, by being in the shadow of the Obama throne and close to the dispensation of power? McCain gets leftovers from the table of the new Mansion's Master? McCain has no shame.

Go Sarah Palin! Go Joe the Plumber! Excoriate all RINOs from the Republican Party.

they’d be as libertarian as the current republicans are republicans.

The question is has the GOP veered too far away from the economic conservativism to be a viable long term movement. I think probably so.

So now the question is if libertarian lines up more to my conservativism than does republicanism. Its becoming increasingly clear to me that it does. I’ll work to incorporate reasonable approaches to the areas that I have disagreement with the libertarian platform, just like I do the GOP, but the difference is that I’ll be standing truer to where I’d like to see the country than I do right now when supporting the current group of career political entertainers.

If the dems end up with 59 senators, don’t be surprised if McCain jumps. They’d offer him any chairmanship he’d ask for. And I’m not kidding.

So, everything is back to normal.

Tell me again why I should be sorry McCain lost?

And tell me again why it matters whether the Republicans have 41 or 42 seats with RINO’s like this still in the caucus more then prepared to screw us.

Now it will go to establish a new socialist Utopia. SICK!!!!!!!

This is why it is a moral imperative for everyone to educate themselves on legally reducing the amount of taxes they pay.

This is news ?

The part about them being "former rivals" sure surprised me. The same way Laurel and Hardy were "rivals" I guess (shrug).

McCain has talked with the Democrats about switching sides before in name only. In deed he’s already done it too often to count. It’s certainly possible.

probably won’t happen, if for no other reason then conservatives would rejoice and suddenly become energized at the prospect of taking him out in the next race without the GOP trying to protect the RINO.

I honestly wish he would switch. Same for Linds and every other RINO. then we’d have a fresh start.

Maybe this is petty, but for someone like Obama who tries to claim that he is culturally superior, he should learn a little etiquette. In a setting such as this - it is considered disrespectful to have the sole of your foot facing the person you are talking to. And This is what O is doing to McCain. I hope he doesn’t pull a photo op like this elsewhere.

I had to explain this to someone the other day. In the committee Graham voted with the democrats and the perjury charge never made it to the floor for a vote. I remember the pundits were shocked that Graham had voted that way. And that was the day the media fell in love with him.

Amen, Lady! Never again. The lessor of two evils is still evil and I’ve learned my lesson. (But I am proud to have voted for Palin.)

Bob Dole once saw Ford, Carter and Nixon at a White House function and said, “Well, there they are. Speak no evil, hear no evil and evil.”

if mccain goes, that will be a +2 for DEM since McCain has something permanently attached to his leg - oh, wait, that’s a Senator from SC - well, there you go...

The last time I looked, the Liberatian platform was NOT very conservative.

Muslims are paranoid about touching the bottom of shoes. Remember the mobs hitting Saddam’s statue with their shoes? Ultimate insult. So, was Obama the muslim doing this so his muslim friends could see he’s insulting McCain?

This election was more in the spotlight then ever before with the Internet and the 24 hour news cycle you could see each cause and effect that occurred at every particular moment and the impact it had on opinion. All the aspects just fall into place, the media, the candidates they presented to us and so on. Not many people spend as much time watching this stuff as us junkies do...it was all so contrived to me, like a giant circus, complete with complimentary cruise right after the election for all the “stars”.

I don’t think liberalism and core conservatism have changed all that much but the attitudes sure have.

Yes, "conservatism" is now something one is accused of by the socialist media, and "liberalism" which has changed its name to "progressivism" is now Communism. I for one have nothing to say to today's "liberals" who have more emotionally in common with National Socialists than classical liberals, and have no empathy or support for supposed Republicans who do.
