A moderate Democrat. He’s fully for gun ownership (how could he be anything else in Alaska?) and oil development in ANWR.

Winning with turds like Stevens is not winning.

This is the part where we bend over backwards to show how un-like the leftists we are... I get it. But, as I said, this election wasn't about Stevens. It was about the chance to get to a special election where we could field a worthy candidate (possibly Palin, who would have been a slam-dunk). Instead, we're doing cartwheels over the rats getting their 58th senate seat.

Look, there is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits another revolution.

We have a Marxist organized crime family controlling every sector of the federal government. The Constitution isn't in charge anymore. The Manifesto is.

If you’re a Dem..

Count..and count..and count..and recount..until you win.

If you’re a Pubbie..

Just give up, and let the crooks have their way.

Typical.

“I can’t believe a felon was this close to winning anyway.”

Had he been a democrat he would probably have kept his seat.

The biggest problem with these guys who hang on to their seat forever, whether AK or elsewhere, is that no new, younger leaders are being developed. Any good young conservative Republican can surely identify with Prince Chaz.

I really am concerned that the US is turning into its own kind of royalty. We don’t have citizen-legislators, we have lifers. In NY they’re talking about who would succeed Hillary, and the names seem to be Kennedy or Cuomo.

So Begich says. His NRA rating is provisional, based solely on his NRA questionnaire answers because his actions have proved neither pro nor anti gun. As for ANWR, he talks the talk but as you noted he HAS to here in order to have even a chance of getting elected but I don’t trust him as far as I can kick him. He courted the hard core greenies in the lower 48 and they ran ads for him too. Those groups don’t want ANWR opened and wouldn’t support any one who does.

The real test for Begich would be a vote on either issue that required every single D vote. I think he’ll put party first. And that’s why I voted for Stevens.

Inhofe’s a good man and right.

That’s why I’m taking the view all RINO’s can go down with the ship. I’m not lifting a finger to save any of them. They screwed us when in the majority, they’ve screwed us in the minority, and they’d keep right on doing it if allowed to stay. If the country goes to hell, at least let Dems take the fall. Sooner or later another “throw the bums out” election will happen. In the meantime my only interest is in winning the battle to control the agenda the GOP will follow in future and the candidates that will be picked to service it.

What a shame that he did not step aside so another Republican could run for his Senate seat. It must be true that all politicians are egomaniacs, win lose or draw, the country be damned!

I am actually delighted!...

This a** politician could be the poster child of the typical ARROGANT crook politician who thinks he can get away with anything!

I still remember him so arrogantly yelling and shouting on the senate floor because he wanted the money for the bridge to no where.

As long as we the people, put up with bastards like these, is it any wonder these crooks don't have any respect for us and treat us like children? I actually hope he goes to jail.

Which brings to mind degenerate Craig... I guess he still in the Senate... What a shame for republicans.

You think the one taking his senate seat will be better?

BTW, how soon Jefferson (La) lose his House seat?

The Constitution still counts for too.

One more try: The slide is to the left. The climb is to the right.

We won’t get there with people like Stevens or one or two seats here or there.

Unfortunately, not enough blood has been spilled yet...

Amen to that.

Time for a RINO hunt.

Stevens has always seemed to me to be a prickly and not particularly likable character, but the trial in D.C. which convicted him struck me as less than exemplary. I am not at all sure he got a fair trial. In any case, the Alaska Republican Party was foolish to put an 84 year old man, already under a cloud, on the ticket.

Begich, the Dim who defeated him, has proclaimed that he is pro-gun and pro-drilling. This will serve him well at home in Alaska while in D.C. he follows the Dim party line on everything else.

You know, Alaska is seeming awful corrupt on the Republican side. I know Palin cleaned house somewhat, but is there any other crap out there?

The filibuster number is irrelevant.

There will always be enough Reps (RINOs) crossing over to give the Dems whatever they demand. It's not like we have a solid bloc of conservatives in the GOP to represent us.

So, relax, the senate races really don't matter at this point.

“He personally deserved to lose, however if we lose the seat and Georgia and Minn. we are SCREWED!”

Even if he won he’d be nothing but a punching bag and poster boy for what’s wrong with the GOP. An albatross around the party’s neck.

The shame of the whole thing is that he should have manned up and stepped aside so an untainted candidate could run in his place. He couldn’t give a damn to do that though. The guy is a corrupt fossil. He should have left the Washington pig trough years ago.

The Constitution still counts for too.

Barely. Its relevance rests with one bi-polar swing vote on the Supreme Court. The rest of the New Party ruling class have nothing but the utmost contempt for it. And they will rule accordingly.

We won’t get there with people like Stevens or one or two seats here or there.

Again, it wasn't about Stevens. He was no more likely to be a part of the new session than you or I. It was about getting to a special election. We're not going to get anywhere by losing seats in the reddest of red states.
