I think the rules call for a special election in this situation.

Still, we would have had the opportunity to field a good candidate in GOP stronghold. Instead, we get another rat in the senate.

She’s fine as governor for the time being. She needs to buck up her bonafides a bit, and she’ll be set for a Senate or POTUS run. Now is the time for her to continue doing what she’s done so far, so well: energize the base, reform the politcal system in AK, and hone her prepped and ad-lib oratory skills.
