Tool bag, spider lost in space
Times of the Internet ^ | 18 November 2008

A tool bag floated away in space as U.S. astronaut Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper worked outside the International Space Station Tuesday.

Stefanyshyn-Piper, who is working from the space shuttle Endeavour, had a grease gun inside her tool bag leak, and while she was trying to clean it up, the whole bag floated away, CNN reported.

Stefanyshyn-Piper was outside the space station on a scheduled six-hour spacewalk with fellow mission specialist Steve Brown.

The Endeavour began its mission Thursday when it lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Also Tuesday, one of two orb weaver spiders was missing aboard the space station, Fox News reported.

We don't believe that it's escaped the overall payload enclosure, said Kirk Shireman, NASA's deputy station program manager. I'm sure we'll find him spinning a web sometime here in the next few days.

The web spun so far lacked the usual symmetry expected.

The web was more or less three-dimensional and it looked like it was all over the inside of the spider hab, said NASA astronaut Sandra Magnus, the space station's science officer. We took some pictures of it, so hopefully they will turn out.

PETA is very upset that we are harming spiders by sending them up into space, so that the evil west will grow giant spiders to be Used to conquer Islam.

I’m glad I won’t be around in fifty years when this spider returns to destroy Tokyo or some such easily taken out city.

I for one will welcome our new spider overlords.

Heide.... had a grease gun inside her tool bag leak, and while she was trying to clean it up, the whole bag floated away,

"Eeewww, it's all greasy and yucky...."
For crying out loud - it's a tool bag - finish your job, take it inside, and clean it up later like any normal man would do.
Not a chauvanist, but heck - this is why there are some jobs only a man should be doing!!

Caution, female genius at work.

Sad.

Geez, that was a bad movie. It couldn't decide whether it was a fun kid's flick, or a hardcore scifi flick...and just wound up being neither.

I wanted a refund after I saw it.

Just proves once again that I don't trust women who hyphenate their names.

If she wants to keep her own name (for professional reasons, or personal ones, or just doesn't want the hassle....), that's fine IMHO. If she wants the husband's name, that's OK too. Anything else is just indecisive.

Show more respect to our coming Spider Overlords.

(They’ll be better than Obama, anyway.)
