Why does any American citizen NOT have standing on this issue????? This is OUR government...not just the politicians who are CHOSEN (elected) by US, the people....

IMO, each and every American citizen has the right to question any candidates compliancy with the Constitution of the United States of America..................

“Standing” is a tricky issue to arrange legally sometimes.

In this case:
- the actual binding election really hasn’t taken place yet - that’s on the floor of Congress on December 13
- the person you voted for was not actually McCain or Obama, but an elector who will cast a vote in accordance with your state’s law
- you don’t get to decide whose name is on the ballot, so it’s not really your place to object thereto (there’s always write-in)
- your “standing” as a citizen really isn’t valid until the new President has been sworn in
- your Congressmen have standing only when the electors actually deliver their votes
- etc.

It’s complicated. Bottom line: O isn’t President yet, he’s just the one likely to be sworn in once this brilliantly convoluted process works out.

You may have standing in a case regarding your elector, however.

Boonie-

I felt the same way you did until I listened to Leo Donofrio’s interview on Plain Radio. Here is a link if you’d like to hear him explain it. The audio is 50 minutes but it really cut through all the clutter for me.

(I don’t know how to make this a hot link. Sorry.)

After listening to Leo, I wrote a letter to The Honorable Justice Clarence Thomas, my Secretary of State and to my Governor.

I'm guessing it is set up this way to prevent frivolous lawsuits. Think about how many suits would have been filed by the lefties against President Bush, just to impede the process.
