NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - After 12 years at Fox News Channel and four decades in the news business, Washington managing editor Brit Hume will leave "Special Report" and daily journalism for a quieter life, spending time with his grandchildren and following his Christian faith (the anchor still will contribute to the network as a political analyst).

Hume, 65, talked about the demands of the job and how his succession should be handled.

After awhile Brit Humes was just not enough to keep me watching Fox News. Have not watched any National News since the election.

Who will layeth the smacketh down on Juan Williams now?

---------------------------------------------------------

Think I'd read elsewhere that he will still appear on Fox, but in a much diminished role. Presumably he will still be on the Fox News Sunday panel: "Juan, you can't be serious..."

I watched Brit’s show every night. I really liked the Grapeline report.

Hume: I certainly want to pursue my faith more ardently than I have done. I'm not claiming it's impossible to do when you work in this business. I was kind of a nominal Christian for the longest time. When my son died (by suicide in 1998), I came to Christ in a way that was very meaningful to me. If a person is a Christian and tries to face up to the implications of what you say you believe, it's a pretty big thing. If you do it part time, you're not really living it.

Powerful testimony.

Is FNC even going to be around for the long-term? Seeing FNC regulars suddenly decide to leave makes me wonder what’s going on.

Typo correction:

Grapeline should have been Grapevine.

Yup. The Grapevine is the highlight of the show for me. I love how he exposes the criminally leftward bias of the MSM. I hope Grapevine continues under the new host.

Hume is a good one.

Except for the Fox “All Stars”

Who will layeth the smacketh down on Juan Williams now?
Juan Williams will take over for him probably

He's now treated like a prima donna diva what with The One getting elected.

The conservatives hang on his evey word, and he can do no wrong.

How disappointing. Brit is my plumb line. But I can’t really blame him, not wanting to witness and report the demise of our precious country...

Go with God, Brit. You’ve been the Best.

I loved the "Grapevine" also. Brit would always say something like "...and now, for the most engaging 2 minutes in television". My wife & I always laugh and say "If it's so engaging (which it is)...why don't they make it longer?". The Grapevine often includes the topics that we are discussing on freerepublic. While it would be nice if it was longer, at least someone (Brit) was bringing them up.

Sorry to see Brit leave.

Fox already started turning left a few months before the election. Hannity and maybe Cavuto are the only decent ones anymore. Glen Beck just joined but he is speaking in code now for fear of the USARR-O.
