Palin back on the stump [Chambliss GA.)

Sarah Palin is going back on the campaign trail, just a few weeks after returning to Alaska from her two-month run for vice president.

The governor is planning a trip to Georgia to campaign on behalf of Georgia Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss early next week on her way to Philadelphia to meet with her old foe, president-elect Barack Obama.

Obama is meeting with governors of both parties in Philadelphia to talk about the ailing economy. It's not clear how many governors are going to attend the Obama event, which the National Governors Association helped to put together.

"I don't know if she has a one on one with (Obama)," said Palin spokesman Bill McAllister. "It may be, given that they were both involved in the national campaign." McAllister said Palin will be in Philadelphia on Monday and Tuesday, and the state will pay for it. He said the Chambliss campaign will pay for Palin's side trip to Georgia.

Palin will join Chambliss for rallies Monday in Augusta, Savannah, Perry and Atlanta. Chambliss is in a close runoff election with Democrat Jim Martin.

What's the benefit to Alaska for Palin to campaign for Chambliss?

"Well, I don't know. It's a political event so I'm reluctant to comment much on it. But she works pretty hard, so you could consider it a day off," McAllister said. "I don't know that it necessarily has to have a direct benefit for Alaska, although probably you could make some argument there's an indirect one."

This is Palin's second trip out of state since coming back to work at the governor's office on Nov. 7.

I posted tis version to illustrate how, in Alaska, the media intends to politicize all her travel out of state.

But, in a related Cnn story Palin campaigns--and Fox foxstory

"She is going to bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to this runoff," said [Nick] Ayers, who is a close Palin confidant. "She is widely popular in Georgia, and I could not envision a stronger closer for Saxby in this election."

"I was thrilled when I got the call that Governor Palin would be able to make the trip to Georgia to campaign with me the day before the runoff election," Chambliss said in a news release. "Julianne and I are honored that she would take the time to travel to Georgia to tell everyone how important this election is and I know that she will receive an enthusiastic welcome everywhere we go."

Chambliss is locked in a nationally watched Dec. 2 runoff against Democrat Jim Martin. The contest will help determine whether Democrats win a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate.

Palin will join Chambliss for four public rallies across the state on Monday: 8:30 a.m. in Augusta; 11:00 a.m. in Savannah; 1:30 p.m. in Perry; and 4:00 p.m. in Atlanta.

We are grateful to her for coming and I am DEFINITELY going to see her Monday morning!
Saxby needs to win. We need Saxby to win. Hold your nose if you must, but vote for him or contribute!

Good for you GA. If I’m not mistaken, this will be the first time Georgians will get to see a SP rally.

What's the benefit to Alaska for Palin to campaign for Chambliss?

I'm disappointed Governor Palin's spokesman cannot muster the obvious and correct answer: a filibuster proof majority in the Senate would be a disaster for the country and that includes Alaska.

Leave it to the MSM to deliver a not-so-subtle attack on Palin for campaigning with Chambliss.

What's the benefit to the state of Alaska?

It's just beyond the pale that she would take one day out of her trip - a trip paid for by the Chambliss campaign - and campaign for a fellow Republican. Of course, Obama missing hundreds of votes in the senate was never a big deal at all.

I hope Sarah's presence will provide a big boost to Saxby. Any idea on what kind of crowds will be there?

Alaska's benefit - from Sarah's support of Chambliss in GA?

Well, for ONE THING - Chambliss will be the LAST PERSON between a democrat stranglehold on the White House, House of Representatives, AND a 60+ vote Senate.

If Alaska wants a despotic, socialist, energy-poor, price-high nation-state to run ITS economy from Washington to the benefit of Washington, then Alaska (Sarah) should stand by and let the media ruin (er, run) another Senate seat for the democrats.

Sarah is so freaking awesome. Do anyone know what local stations will be covering the rallies she is at?

This political take from Pravda-LA Times division:

Palin, who's also been a successful party fundraiser, will do events in one day for Chambliss -- from Augusta to Savannah to Perry and then Atlanta, probably just before the evening news on TV. What a coincidence in case any station wanted a live-shot of the Republican celebrity!

While many media and Democrats relish making fun of Palin to each other, even weeks after she lost, the 44-year-old mother of five drew immense crowds of the curious and Republican faithful during the presidential campaign. Many broke into chants of "Sa-RAH! Sa-RAH!" even during speeches by the main candidate, John McCain.

The McCain-Palin ticket captured Georgia Nov. 4 by around 200,000 votes. Our colleague Frank James has some more details on Palin's Peach State appearances over at the Swamp.

So if Chambliss wins Tuesday, whom do you think he might support or at least not oppose come 2012?

The comments on adn.com are disgusting. I guess a governor w/ an 80% (even down to 69% app rating post election) has detractors even up there (although I get the feeling many were from out of state). All they keep saying is that she is a prim ma donna and needs to stay there and govern. How the hell do they know whether she’s governing or not??? There are such things as conference calls!! How many other governors travel and campaign? All governors were invited to the Philly conference on Monday. I just don’t get these people. They are nuts!!!

On the flip side, her spokesman’s reason for the GA visit was pretty lame, does he not realize this state’s seat is the 60 firewall??

I went and voted (early) this afternoon at the Columbia County Board of Elections building and I’d say it was consistently busy.

I had applied for an absentee ballot, as I will be out of town next week. I had filled out the postcard the RNC printed up and was one of the dopes that didn’t sign the card before mailing. I received a letter from the BOE with another application indicating I didn’t sign it. The RNC acknowledged their error in putting the signature line below a change of address line. I am sure it will cost Chambliss some votes. You’d think the Democrats had the contract to print those things!

Their was acknowledgement that there were many ‘dopes’ like me.

The guy is really out of his league. I'm sure he has served her well in the past, but she needs better people if she wants to be involved in national politics.

Those are professional posters, mostly from lefty-blogs, Moveon.org, and other Democrat 527s. I’m willing to bet that virtually none of them are authentic, grassroots Alaskans. It really has to make you laugh - when Palin was out campaigning, they hated her and didn’t want her back in Alaska. Now when she goes to campaign (for one day, mind you) they say she must stay in Alaska and govern!!

Where is Meg Stapleton? I know she still works for her—she was at the Greta interview. She’s VERY good as a spokeswoman—saw her on CNN during the campaign.

Great. Now if Chambliss loses, everyone (including Republicans it seems) can blame Sarah for his loss.
