The IDF is drawing up options for a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities that do not include coordination with the United States, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
While its preference is to coordinate with the US, defense officials have said Israel is preparing a wide range of options for such an operation.
"It is always better to coordinate," one top Defense Ministry official explained last week. "But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination."
Israeli officials have said it would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without receiving codes from the US Air Force, which controls Iraqi airspace. Israel also asked for the codes in 1991 during the First Gulf War, but the US refused.
"There are a wide range of risks one takes when embarking on such an operation," a top Israeli official said.
Several news reports have claimed recently that US President George W. Bush has refused to give Israel a green light for an attack on Iranian facilities. One such report, published in September in Britain's Guardian newspaper, claimed that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert requested a green light to attack Iran in May but was refused by Bush.
In September, a Defense News article on an early warning radar system the US recently sent to Israel quoted a US government source who said the X-band deployment and other bilateral alliance-bolstering activities send parallel messages: "First, we want to put Iran on notice that we're bolstering our capabilities throughout the region, and especially in Israel. But just as important, we're telling the Israelis, 'Calm down, behave. We're doing all we can to stand by your side and strengthen defenses, because at this time, we don't want you rushing into the military option.'"

When Israel has plans to do something big they don't talk about doing it, they just do it. ....which is why I highly doubt they'll be doing anything here. ....especially before Jan. 20.
Somehow I have the feeling the Mossad has a photograph of Obama’s birth certificate. Probably they have pictures of his mother taken years ago that might prove embarassing. Perhaps a photo of Barry with Larry Sinclair or copies of his school application where he lists himself as an Indonesian.
Obama will support whatever Israel wants. I’m just hoping it’s Israel who has the goods, not China, Iran or Russia.
Couple of things are a given. There will be no land war. There will be a missile attack from Lebanon and Gaza. Question is will those missiles be chemically, biologically or nuclear tipped?
On Israel’s side, will their return fire be aimed at cities like the muzzies?
It’s no coincidence that while 77% of my fellow American Jews voted for Chairman 0, while roughly the same percentage of American Jews LIVING IN ISRAEL cast their ballots for McCain.
American Jews living in Israel know what’s at stake in the WOT, having direct experience with the enemy. Lib Jews living the States, however, are too worried about “a women’s right to choose,” “gays’ right to marry,” and global warming nonsense to care about much else.

You just about covered all the main issues there. I had similar experience at Thanksgiving, but not with my lib Jewish relatives (who live out of state). I greeted a guy at the door who actually went to a commie day camp in the Catskills way back in the day, and he promptly coughed in my face, announced he had a cold, and then proceed to gloat about the election. It was a long night.
Oh yes, I almost forgot - Bush and Cheney either perpetrated 9/11, or knew about it in advance and let it happen. And, no plane parts were found at the Pentagon!
I decided to fight back and name a single piece of legislation Obama authored, a single committee hearing he chaired, his executive experience in running a city or state.
Silence. Until, that is, someone mumbled something about “change”.

exactly, what most of the world doesn’t seem to understand is America isn’t defending Israel from the arabs - it’s defending the arabs from Israel.
The best time to attack is after you’ve bolstered your defenses. If I were to attack Iran, I would go for the highest casualty count possible. The reason I say this is because after the attack, if it’s too limp wristed, wave after wave of suicide attacks will occur as well as a mobilized Iranian army.
