I guess stats don't lie, but I find it really hard to believe that we are really in this bad of shape. I mean yes we all have worthless 401K’s and stocks but really do people really need to resort to Spam??? Maybe a lot of people are stocking up. Spam lasts forever. If there were some sort of catastrophe, you wouldn't go hungry.

You may have something there. If i lived out in the country I'd have a stock of food on hand in case thing got real bad and the supermarket didn't get restocked regularly. Of course I live in the Peoples Republic of Cook County Illinois so if trouble comes I'm going to be running West. Heavy canned food is just not an option.

My mom used to put cloves in it and bake it like a ham then glaze it with honey. One can for four people along with fried potatoes and onions.
