The reason they were so slow out of the gate is because he has had a free pass from scrutiny.

Bubba & Co. had a seasoned War Room starting from bimbo eruptions, etc. etc.

They strived on scandal and Barry's nervous tic is cycling at 20,000 rmps right now

“why would he bother?”

From the sounds of that tape, the good gov. was crooked all over.
There’s no way he “only” messed up in the senate seat affair.

It will be interesting to see what “else” this so-called reformer gov. was up to, and exactly who was up to it with him.

The big question is why the Trib pulled the plug, or allowed to by the Feds.

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NzhiYmFlMDZiNzkxYmZlMThmMTZjNDJlYzYwM2ZhNjY=

The dealing seemed very close to a climax — and an explosive political scandal. And then, on the morning of December 5, the Chicago Tribune ran a story on its front page reporting that law enforcement had secretly recorded Blagojevich’s conversations as part of a criminal investigation. Blagojevich immediately instructed Fundraiser A to “undo” the plan to meet personally with the associate of Candidate Five. Blagojevich instead turned his energy to preparing his legal defense.

The deal was off, blown, apparently, by the Tribune’s report. For anyone who has watched the case, the astonishing thing is that Blagojevich, prior to December 5, could possibly have assumed that he wasn’t under surveillance. But he apparently did, making for some of the juiciest political wiretaps in years. And he appeared to be moving toward actually making a corrupt deal to sell Obama’s Senate seat when he finally, belatedly, figured things out. And that seems to be the best explanation for why prosecutor Fitzgerald went public on December 9, instead of letting the case continue for a while longer.

The only reason for Jackson Senior to hire an attorney is some possible exposure. If he had no reason to fear anything, why would he bother?

Even if he was innocent as a newborn child, it would be foolhardy not to retain council. Being innocent is no guarantee of acquittal. Don't get me wrong. The man is probably as guilty as sin, but in today's world you would be stupid not to hire council if the FBI wanted to have a "friendly chat".

I doubt it. Doesn’t Jr. own the Budweiser distributorship for Chicago? I think Jr. supplied the dough and was smart enough to let someone else do the bidding. Maybe that someone else was his pop. Maybe his pop was bidding, in general, for some kind of payoff or finders fee.

.
The whistle was blown to Protect Jesse Jackson Jr.

They were getting ready to exchange money - the deal was ready to be consummated.

Jesse Jackson was in Obama’s inner circle during the long campaign. Many in the Chicago machine benefited from blowing the whistle and containing this thing to the Gov’s office because in these type of prosecutions people often turn and tell what they know. The Chicago machine couldn’t let that happen. The timing is obvious.

Now, was Fitzgerald one of those that wanted to contain this to the Gov’s office?

Of course many in that Chicago Machine are in Washington or have ties to the Obama administration...

The whistle was blown to contain this thing to the Gov’s office.

That’s why I think Fitz is after Obama and that Blago is an easy and effective tool to snag his target.

I doubt he would of been the primary target. Although when you bottom fish, you never know what is going to take the bait..

I agree ... the trap was set to snare the Gov., not JJJ and others. JJJ was about the swallow the bait, and Fitz reeled in the line.

What’s your take on the blurb below? Was this an early attempt to ratchet up Blago, after wiretaps were in place?

10/31/08 “I just don’t want to jinx him and I don’t like the karma of me thinking that far ahead,” Blagojevich said of Obama ‘s prospects in Tuesday’s election. The governor added, “We have had some discussions about a process which we’ll share ... if all goes well.”

I saw that.

The Chicago machine is tight.

It’s just not convenient for anyone to admit it any longer. I’m sure Obama had plans down the road and hoped to exploit his relationship with Blago.

Obama has never turned his back on anyone that can do him a favor. He was one of the worst brand of - it’s who you know politicians. But, most need Obama now, it’s reversed.

Thanks
