Although I prefer NetBSD for the core developers' attention to kernel stability and security, my younger kid installed Ubuntu Linux on one of our older machines. It installed easier and faster than Windows. Everything works great with it--even the 3-D, first-person shooter games.

I bought (yes..paid money...LOL!) for Ubuntu 8, it just didn’t do the trick, my older stuff just doesn’t have the horsepower to run it right.

And plug and play wireless networking is needed for Linux to be “there’ for me.
