What exactly is it that Allah worshippers are celebrating this December? Ramadan has been over for months. Maybe next ramadan we can erect a nativity scene and a menorah beside the local mosque? Right on!

We are celebrating Christmas to mark the birth of Jesus.

You have no issue with the Menorah?

Maybe the key here is that the creepy crescent is attached to a plain aluminum pole!

Maybe, its for FESTIVUS,
the celebration for the rest of us!

In the news, Saturday Dec. 13, 2008:

When they light the town Christmas tree in Armonk on Sunday, there will be a Jewish menorah right alongside, as usual. There will also be something new this year — an Islamic crescent and star . . . .

Headline Monday Dec. 15, 2008

Christmas Tree, Menorah offensive to Islam
Muslims Demand Christmas Tree, Menorah Be Removed
"The Islamic crescent and star must be the only holiday display," say Muslims. "And a foot wash."

“Christianity is what made western civilization great. And our world rejecting its principles and teachings accelerates the crumbling thereof.”

They are turning our great day into a generic mercantilist “holiday” dead and devoid of all value except spending money and equal societally to Groundhog Day” in significance.

The spirit of giving and “Peace on Earth, Good will
to men” will also be lost as part of this damnable political correctness.

About the last thing I wanna do is be thought of as defending Islam - but the religion does recognize Jesus Christ as a holy prophet.

But they believe that he was only one in a line of holy prophets that preceded Mohammad and that he.

Surprisingly, Wikipedia does offer a good explanation on how Islam views Jesus Christ. Click on this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_Islam

Having said all that, Islam does have a tendency, theologically and literally, to appropriate many parts of Christianity for their own use.

I say let's put the most positive spin on this intrusion. How about if we interpret the star and crescent to be representative of the Magi(Three Kings) who traveled from the East in search of the Christ child. Weren't they thought by some scholars to be Persian?

“Don’t forget the Atheists. If they want to see their symbol displayed they’ll have to put up a .......”

A Festivus pole shoved up their rumps seems like a symbol that would fit them.

Thanks for the reply and that's a very interesting article in wiki.

That said, what are the Muslims celebrating this month? Christians don't celebrate Ramadan; do the Muslims celebrate Christmas?

The Muslims are celebrating a whole hell of a lot of nothing this month!

By seeing to it that a star and crescent is included on a Christmas display, they’re seeking mainstream acceptance of their religion.

Their only claim is that they too recognize Jesus Christ. That’s their tenuous connection to the Christmas season.
