McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama
Politico ^ | 2008-12-14 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/14/2008 7:40:23 AM PST by rabscuttle385

In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.

On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked: “The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.

"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor [Rod] Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that?”

McCain replied: “I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody — right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”

as bad as Obama will be, I can’t imagine this clown being any better. If McCain had managed to get in we would be just as sick of him as we are of “The One.”

JD Hayworth would get my vote.

Any chance JD would beat Mccain in a primary? I sure would love to see him take over that seat!!

What a complete POS McCain is! Now that the election is over and he lost and is political dead meat I have the good fortune to never have to say another kind word about him. No more variants of even, “he is better than Obama have to be written”.

Why does this buffoon keep on getting goaded into saying stupid things like this? Never once, not ever, do you hear the same asked of a democrat. Example; No one ever asked Joe Lieberman if he thought Nancy Pelosi and her constant harping on bush was to much.

Juan's hemming and hawing when asked if he would support Sarah if she were to run for President. For all intents and purposes he incredibly said "no". Geez it's time for him to exit the stage.

What a jerk! I didn't think he acted honorably after he lost the nomination to Bush and he hasn't acted honorably after this loss either.

Please, somebody, take this guy on and take his seat away!

John McLame is NOT the party leader. He had his chance and blew it.
Go home john, go get angry with the dog and play shuffleboard and drool.

McCain has to realize that he is not the leader of the Republican party. He was simply the lessor of two evils at the end. He ended up as default candidate at the primaries because the base was split. He will never have the allegiance of the conservative base.

Yes, this point is illustrated in his comments from this article:

McCain replied: “I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody — right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. It always does, it seems to me.”

What a jerk!!!

How do we get out of this mess?

They all need to GO!

Honestly, what are we going to do?

There is nothing to suggest right now that Obama is on on anything illegal. He’s also said that the facts will come out as they always do.

Why do people like you always assume that conservatives can only focus on one thing at a time. Also, there is more than enough to "suggest" that Bozo has committed more than one crime. If you can't see that too bad. Also, McCain bashes the RNC for running an ad that shows the truth about Bozo and you say he isn't saying anything wrong. What a crock of sh**! McCain is a total a**hat and always has been, I know he sacrificed a lot during the war but you can't ride on you past deeds, you must keep making new ones and he has done nothing since he became a senator except stick it to the conservatives of the party.

“...But as a politician, he’s an idiot.”

maybe - but I suspect he is playing the odds which are that Obama will muddle through the Chicago mess, and birth certificate matter. IMO he wants to be on the record as one with whom Obama can deal.

I no longer have any faith in my government what so ever,

Who are these Indian businessmen?

Here we are trapped and no other continent to invade.

"Honestly, what are we going to do?"

I feel your urgency.

The first thing is to cast off the shackles of "we". Next ask the question again.

Once again we see how unbelievably selective John McVain is about his “reform” agenda.

Instead of scolding Rs for pressing the Chicago cesspool machine to come clean, McCain ought to be focused upon how to clean up that mess that is now seeping into our national government.

Instead of trying to take the pressure off, McCain should be turning up the heat.

Instead of showing such complacency about one of the worst scandals in US political history he should be showing outrage and demanding complete accountability — how is selling a US Senate seat not worse than, or at least as bad as, the infamous “Teapot Dome” scandal of the early 20s, when the corruption was purely financial and did not involve the sale of a US Senate seat? If Harding goes down as one of the worst US Presidents ever for having “Teapot Dome” associated with his admin. then the Obamanation is already on track to be in the Harding category.

right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together,

And we get the shaft every time, McCain. If the Rats want to
play patty cake they can reach over to the Pub side for the next 10 years
before we'll think about supporting such nonsense.
