SWEET CAROLINE: I'M SET TO SERVE
NY Post ^ | December 27, 2008 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Caroline Kennedy broke her silence with the start of a media blitz yesterday, defending her qualifications to replace Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and confidently saying she's up to the job.

Kennedy sat for half-hour interviews with The Associated Press and NY1 after two weeks in which the controlled rollout of her candidacy raised questions about her credentials.

The 51-year-old daughter of John F. Kennedy told NY1 last night, "There are many ways to serve. I think I have been serving my community up until now, and I think I'm ready to take the next step."

She added, "When this opportunity came along, it seemed like . . . I really ought to give it some thought. This is something that I've always thought, one day, in the future."

Later, she acknowledged, "I would be an unconventional choice - I haven't followed a traditional path, but I think I bring a lifetime of experience to this.

There’s a song parody in that title.

“Sweet Caroline, Senate never seemed so good...”

NY gets what it deserves. A know nothing Senator on top of its ridiculous round of 80+ tax increases on absurd items.

The state just needs to collapse in on itself. Funny how these “enlightened” people with “good intentions” can’t run a hot dog cart successfully yet are given cities and states to run into the ground.

Last person left, turn out the lights.

....defending her qualifications....
::::::::
Kinda like Obama defending his qualifications. But at least she is a qualified citizen....that puts her ahead of our new “president”. Looks like just about anyone or anything can just walk into Washington unopposed, for all practical purposes.

If the media will advertise you, the stupid masses will believe it.

You know this country is in the toilet when we let someone with absolutely no experience just waltz into one of the 100 jobs as a U.S. Senator. I guess that goes to show that, when it comes to being a U.S. Senator, “anyone can do it.”

Where does Caroline Kennedy stand on the Employee Free Choice Act? And why does she take that position?

As much as I despise the prospect of Senator Caroline Kennedy, I would relish a Peter King/Caroline Kennedy race in 2010.

You would think with all the money she has that she would have been able to keep her face from looking like a road map of Colorado. She can’t be much more than 50, but she looks like she is 70! Are we sure we know who her parents are? :)

The main issue that needs to be explored is if she likes warm puppies and pretty sunsets.

If she thinks she is ready to serve, then by all means she may run for the NY Senate in 2010. I think she really means, “I’m ready to be annointed, and be given a Senate seat without doing much work to get it.”

Have you ever gotten a look at “auntie’ Eunice Shriver? My husband says Ahnold must shake in his shoes when he sees what the future holds for his wife.

So am I Caroline, and I;m more qualified than you are. Can you ask him to appoint me instead? We already know you don’t have to be from New York for that seat.

I guess you all don't remember that we here in Washington State have been dealing with this since Patty Just-a-Mom-in-Tennis-Shoes Murray was elected decades ago. She has been the Senate's most ineffective senator, not respected by even her own partisans yet, we still reelect her. [sigh]
New York believes in celebrity moreso than competance since Hillary! was just as "qualified" as Caroline is now. They deserve what they get.

“If Mary Jo Kopechne had lived, she would be 64 years old.
Through his tireless work as a legislator,
Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age
and she would have supported Caroline Kennedy for Senator.”

Maria's already started down that road. Have you seen her lately?

If she,as a born citizen, who hasnt been voting, and has ignored politics for years , is ready to serve in the Senate, as a born Catholic who hasnt attended mass for 40 years , I am ready to be Pope.

My personal proposal would be to do away with senate appointments altogether and hold special elections when an incumbent senator either resigns, dies or takes up another position.

That would eliminate influence peddling and quid quo pro’s.
