With about three months to go in the winter of 2008-09, Madison could end up with the average total amount of snow for a season already before the calendar is flipped to the new year.
With 42.9 inches already in November and December, the 1-3 inches expected on Tuesday could push the snowfall total up to the average 45 inches that normally falls in any given winter in these parts, with the brunt of winter still to come.
The record snowfall in December is now at 38.6 inches, breaking the previous December mark of 35 inches set in 2000 as well as the previous monthly mark of 37 inches that fell in February 1994.

It’s going up to 40 degrees today...with 40 MPH winds. This has been one WEIRD winter...but the ice sculptures Mother Nature is making are really pretty. :)

Let me guess, Algore’s hosting a series of Global Warming talks in Madistan?

I was worried about basement flooding when we had 48 degrees here Saturday but I think the ground was too frozen to absorb much of the 14 inches that melted. Sorry in advance to any Madison freepers but as far as I'm concerned Madistan can get another 45inches dumped on it all at once.

Haven’t heard much from Gore - wonder if he’s snowed in some place.

Havent heard much from Gore - wonder if hes snowed in some place. He's probably in isolation somewhere, working feverishly to shore up his explanations of how global warming is causing all these lower than normal temperatures and record snow falls.

It is bad enough to be a conservative in a town like Madison without having to put up with the snow as well.

At this rate they’ll be able to grow tropical plants year round, oh wait....

I live in california, I have always wondered why people live in places like Wisconsin or michigan or north dakota? What is the draw if you spend the majority of the year inside? I am seriously not being condescending I just can’t imagine spending so much time indoors. Other than more intimate activities what is there to do?

Pushing 4 feet here in eastern Washington already and we are in the heart of another snowstorm as I write.
To: rellimpank
90 miles from LA and 5000 feet up in the mountains, we’ve gotten close to 4 feet of snow so far. Usually here we don’t get much snow until mid January to February. High of 27 on Friday and Saturday.

Walkingfeather---there is nothing whatsoever to do in places like that compared to the California paradise. Besides that, the people are unfriendly to the point of rudeness, they don't like strangers, they work most of the time so what few pleasures there are can only be indulged in on weekends another time off.
Don't go to any of those places -you wouldn't like it and we don't want you there---
