GOP leaders reacted angrily Wednesday to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s tactic of all but projecting Al Franken the victor over incumbent GOP Sen. Norm Coleman, even as Minnesota election officials continue to count the votes.

"At this stage, it appears that Franken will be certified the winner by the State Canvassing Board,” said a statement Reid’s office released Tuesday. “We're keeping abreast of the situation and will make a decision with regard to Senate action at the appropriate point in the process."

Seems to me that minorities might want to take a long hard look at who actually treats them as equals and who simply uses them to hold power.

Why would they want to start now?

Dueling should be legal. Coleman should take out both of those criminals..

I am furious over this potential theft of Senate seat. The people in that state better demand a run-off instead of criminal Reid stealing the election.

Franken isn’t even elected yet!

Dirty Harry’s at it again, I see.

Dirty Harry is a gross understatement. Reid knows he’s history in 2 years. Even his “pals” aren’t that fond of him.

Good analogy.

I’m having a hard time working up the effort to care. They allowed the Gov seat in WA to be stolen a few years ago with no outcry. The first race between Thune and Daschle was questionable and they let that one slide. They’ve let countless other races slide so no wonder the Democrats feel at ease to do this. Now suddenly they care enough about this one to be “furious”. Wow, I’m rallied to the cause.

I can’t help wondering if the reason they care so much is because it’s a “blue” state and we have to protect those moderates after all. Norm may not be as bad as some, but does anyone believe he’s going to win the race 6 years down the line without going totally nutcase? Santorum’s luck ran out in PA, his would here unless he completely sold out.

And no I’m not saying what the Dems are doing is right or that it shouldn’t be fought. I’d just rather restrict my battles these days to the few I believe we have a shot to win or are worth dying on. If I believed the Republicans weren’t going to fold here in the end, I’d get involved. But I’m tired of going to battle only to have the GOP call a truce just as the enemy begins to retreat.

It's Minnesota.

Home of the DFL (Democrat-Farm-Labor, *not* Dumb F***ing Liberal), and the only state to vote for Mondale over Reagan.

Yes, I live here by choice, -11 F this morning and all.

Cheers!

...oh, and Happy New Year!

You make good points as usual. As a small minority the Republicans would be well advised to be tough and stand together. Its their only chance slim as it is of affecting anything. This requires a strong leader (which we do not have unfortunately) to herd the cats.

No, it’s the latter. BTW, I live here as well. I don’t use the term Liberal though. I prefer the term Leninist as being more accurate, especially after the DNC agents (a.k.a. the anarkids) visited the RNC convention.

I don’t think this is wise...there is too many problems right now. If McConnell makes no effort to work with Dems to solve problems that the parties can agree on...the Dems will win a filibuster proof majority in 2010. Americans are sick of politics. The party that plays politics while the country is in deep trouble will lose big.

If the Republican leadership is smart, Blackwell will be appointed chairman. It would go a long way in repairing the GOP’s image. He seems to be fairly loyal to conservative principles and that also is key to helping the party and protecting the country.

The next best thing to Coleman winning the seat is the Dims stealing it outright. The more power the Dims have, the more they expose their faults.

I wonder if Republicans can play a little hardball in light of the events in Illinois.

You’re kidding, right? I(f the Rep don’t work with the libs they will have to pay the price in 2010? You mean like the Dem’s had to pay a price in 2006 and 2008 for working with the Republicans who were then in control?

What are you thinking?
