Pro-Bush Rally Draws Crowd From Loudoun
Loudoun County Extra / The Washington Post ^ | January 5, 2009 | Charity Corkey

“Thank you President Bush God Bless” is what 14-year-old Chrissy Doolittle’s sign read.

The Leesburg resident stood holding her sign by the Washington Monument for nearly an hour and a half Saturday afternoon with her mother and grandmother to thank President George W. Bush for his eight years in office.

Chrissy’s family was part of a group of around 150 people – the majority of them from Loudoun County – who wanted to make sure that their voices of gratitude were heard, even as Bush’s approval ratings hover around 30 percent and the area and nation turn their focus toward Barack Obama’s inauguration, just a little more than two weeks away.

“We will continue to pray for him as we always do every night, and that God will continue to use him,” said Chrissy’s mother, Annabelle Doolittle, who found a flyer about the rally on her car.

The noon rally on the National Mall was organized by Ashburn resident Shannon Tercero and included a small stage and microphone for individuals to express their messages of thanks. The demonstrators also sang “God Bless America” and listened to a tribute to President Bush by Jerry Alway, pastor of Grace Tabernacle Church in Berryville.

During the rally, a few people passing by saw the signs and joined the group. “They were really happy we were having it,” Alway said of the spectators. “One child was approached by two men who said they were anti-Bush, but there were definitely more positive than negative [reactions].”

Saturday’s rally was the second pro-Bush rally that Tercero has planned. The first was on Nov. 22 at Lafayette Park.

President Bush is an honorable man who never wavered around in the wind of public opinion. I’m afraid we will not be that lucky with our next President.

God bless him and his lovely wife Laura for all they have given of themselves to this country. I will shed a few tears the day this fine human being leaves the Oval Office for the last time.

Bush has grown the Federal Government at a faster rate than any other President in the history of the US. To top that he took the total amount of debt accumulated in the history of the US and doubled it. And if that wasn’t enough, he added another 11 Trillion in unfunded entitlements when he signed Medicare reform.

The man has virtually guaranteed the financial destruction of our country.

I despise the man.

Why come here, then?

If you are a Conservative you should be asking why stories such as this are here.

I've been here on this conservative forum for nearly 10 years now.

You're gonna tell me what I should be asking?

Good if you don't post to me again.

I will shed a few tears the day this fine human being leaves the Oval Office for the last time....and I with you. It breaks my heart at how the MSM & democrats have branded him a failure. This morning George H W said how hard it has been for he and Barbara to hear George W blamed for everything that has gone wrong these past 8 years...he added, "That yes, W had made some mistakes, but he had also done much good for America and he has been given no credit for the things he has done right."

I hate the media and the democrats for the way they have demonized our 43rd President...may all their chickens come home to roast. I would not ordinarily quote anything Jeremiah wright said, but to wish this on these villains seems rather apropos.

Click that link and you’ll see we are in good company in honoring Bush, or you could just ask an American soldier what they think of their Commander in Chief.

"That yes, W had made some mistakes, but he had also done much good for America and he has been given no credit for the things he has done right."

While I agree he has done some good (e.g. War on terror, and supreme court appointees), he has made more than 'some mistakes.' For instance, on a fiscal conservatism the only way he could be WORSE is if he launched a nuclear missile in the middle of every single financial center in the US. I cannot talk about whether he was a good man or not (he seems to be a gentleman, but whether he is good or not is between him and the Almighty), and he was definitely a Republican.

But he was no Conservative.

True leaders are always hated. Do I like everything he did? No, but in that office you don’t have the luxury of being popular. He freed 50 million and now we will see if Liberals want to keep them free?

Pray for W, America and Our Troops
