You got that right. I like pilots with years of experience, and politicians in their first term. New pilots and old politicians aren’t worth much.
Right on target!
Retirement age use to be 60 on your birthday. The rule was changed to 65 if you want to work. Before rule was changed & you retire at 60 then the Capt. or First Officer could go back to work the panel .(Flight Engineer or second officer.) That is a let down after serving as Captain but some guys do for the love of flying. Captain Pat
“I always wonder if a plane can float on the water surface “
As long as the fuselage isn’t cracked or broken. The guy did a wonderful job of bringing that craft back to earth (water.
People do not realize how much kinetic energy is stored up in a flying passenger jet. Releasing that energy in a water landing without damaging people or the fuselage is not easy.
Hats off where it’s due: Airbus builds a seaworthy aircraft!
Yes, the proper response will be to criticize the French built airliner.
After the law was changed last year, pilots now must retire by their 65th birthday.
.
Proof right there that Chrissy would make a fine US senator.
Yep. She'll be bitching about US Air losing everyone's luggage.
This pilot, the crew - those passengers and all those brave New Yorkers/New Jersey bystanders/boat captains/ferry passengers and of course the Coast Guard/NYC Blue - they are all amazing and blessed this wonderful day - all survived thanks to ea other!!!
I just e-mailed my brother, who is also a USAF grad, and flew for Texas International and Continental for years. This guy graduated a few years after Gerry, so I have no idea if he knew him, or not.
They didn’t lose the luggage, it’s just a little soggy.
...and this is still better than my last flight on Northworst.
Perhaps they should be in the boat business. Their product appears to float better than it flies.
The commuter ferries have to be given a lot of credit for helping immediately.
I’m with you. I’d prefer having to eat barbed wire to flying on Northwest, with their ostensibly male swishes who have PMS 30 days a month.
Experience and know-how usually get the job done correctly.
Congratulations Captain!
