The Republican Party: It's time for a Revolt
My post at RedCounty ^ | Rus Thompson

Posted on 01/19/2009 3:56:08 PM PST by The Mayor

Time for a revolt? Yes, it is. It is actually long past due for one, and now is the time to start.

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." Thomas Jefferson

All over the country Republicans have been losing elections, from here in New York to the National elections. Why? Simple, they have lost their way and have strayed so far from their base no one wants to support them or vote for them.

The Republicans have had their chance to set the agenda, but over the past eight years they proved that once in DC, they throw their constituents under the bus. I feel sorry for the people that call me from the RNC looking for donations, I give them an earful, tell them to pass on my thoughts and concerns to the supposed "Leadership". I have refused to donate but still get letters and questionnaires in the mail. We know these are only pretentious efforts to make us believe we are helping to set the agenda. No, the only thing the RNC looks for is that check in the envelope. I have been tempted to send these back empty.

Now it seems that all the Leaders are scratching their heads wondering what they have done wrong. We need new leaders they say, yet the ones that come to the forefront are from the same group that had a part in putting us in the situation we are in today.

Why are they scratching their heads anyway? If they had been listening to us, as they say, they would know why we are in the losers seat. Their answer to the question? Well that was revealed by Limbaugh in an insiders report from the Republican Retreat. Their orders are to basically "Retreat", and now GW Bush is saying we all must get along. Who are they trying to kid, what are they trying to hide? Basically they want us to surrender to the left. Surrender? Sorry that word is not in my vocabulary.

This weekend we had our first meeting of Primary Challenge. The agenda for the next couple of years is to find candidates to run for the Erie County Legislature and other seats that are up in the county. Next year we will be running candidates to challenge the Party committee seats, both Republican and Democrats. The politicos have been in their own world of greed and corruption for so long, it is time to clean house.

It's time to bring Primary Challenge to the National level.

So how do we take back the Republican Party and Congress and rebuild? We have to do this on two fronts. Taking over the committees at the local level is one step and is a long and tedious process but one that must be done. Usually committee seats are only up every two years. Here in New York, that election just occurred, so we have two years to get the right people in place. We need people, people that are fed up and willing to stop sitting on their apathy, stop being keyboard activists, to get up and do something about it.

The next step is one that has to start now, and the House of Representatives is a primary concern. Searching out Reagan Conservative Republicans to run in a Primary against the incumbents is the place to focus. We need to list the RINO's that need to be eliminated in the next election and the Primary is where they are most vulnerable. By listing them now, making this list very public and in their faces, we can hold them accountable for their votes over the next two years. If they know we are coming and they lose, maybe, just maybe they will get the message that the base is taking the Party back..

We are fed up with the excessive spending, the bloated government, the taxes, the patronage, regulations, restrictions, earmarks, government intervention, government control and the surrendering of all we stand for as Reagan Conservatives. Smaller, more efficient, less intrusive government, the free markets, Capitalism and the infrastructure that made this the Great Country we are. We have become a government dependent society where government supposedly has the answers for everything. The same people that got us here are going to fix this mess? I think not.

Last I knew Congress had an approval rating of 12. This proves the point that WE, The People are no longer in control. It is time to put We The People back in charge.

If Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingrahm, Boortz, and the rest of the Conservative talk show hosts are serious about what they say, and their desire to take back the country to put Reagan Conservatives back in charge, they should be all over this plan.

"It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work -- work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it." --Ronald Reagan

We have a secret weapon, or we could: those coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan. A coworker and I have talked recently about the wave of veterans who will be entering politics in the next decade (possibly including David Petraeus, the most famous and pivotal active-duty soldier since Schwarzkopf).

I seriously doubt those soldiers will be on the side of the moveon.org crowd, which depending on which direction Obama’s presidency goes could be a dealbreaker for their involvement in the Democratic Party.

These would be great candidates to recruit into a new conservative party.

The biggest problem is money. Lack of funds will ensure that things stay the way they are.
And if a goodly amount of money is raised the "Leaders" will simply price it out of range. They, and their moneyed interests, have too much to lose, in their opinion, to small fry.

Calpernia, I’m seriously thinking of changing to AIP or Conservative. So is a previously die-hard Republican in my office - she’s on our local Republican committee in fact!!
She’s been talking, until she’s blue in the face, about getting back to Republican principles. The committee just ignores her pleas.

Anyway, the Conservative Party is more established, but AIP has an excellent platform as well. How do we choose?

I don’t think there is a reason to choose yet. I’m maintaining my R registration to have a voice in the primaries. The AIP and Conservative Parties aren’t big enough to run primaries yet.

Then, when they are running people for office, go work the campaigns for the person you like best.

When he seduced the leftists, Hispanics, centrists, seniors, youth, union workers etc...

Well, that's exactly the problem with America. Everyone is a protected group looking out for their interests regardless of their impact on society and the commonwealth. Everyone is separated into some kind of “minority” status. How in the hell is a Hispanic a minority? Why?

These factions are then in competition for money, attention and power.

So, government has grown into a system of people that are willing to take advantage of that competition for their attention, money and power. In fact, it has become more like selling influence to the highest bidder not the special interest buying it. This is why many corrupt government officials seek public office; to get rich.

I know one personally, as soon as he got into office he purchased a 4 million dollar home. HOW? How is that possible with a public sector income?

Foreign and domestic special interests must be banded from giving money or gifts to public officials of any kind. Money is not freedom of speech. That's just the first problem.

All of the "conservative stars of talk radio" have one thing in common:

They all stand to make obscene amounts of money off conservatives for the next eight years, listening to their cathartic rants and ventings on their call-in shows; from book signings and appearences; from ratings and ad dollars on their networks; and name-dropping at the same cocktail parties that The Left attends, because after all, they're one big happy entertainment industry.

The Old Sarge gets it. Did these talkers even get their own listeners off the couch and out the door to vote? No. (Another 5% showing up at the polls could have made this a different election) Did their vastly entertaining preaching to the choir convert any Democrats? No.

These fellows are part of the entertainment industry and their job is to sell ads. Period. They are the marketing gateway to upscale, 35-65, white men: a huge market. What? This is a mystery? Downscale, you go sports, NASCAR, country music. On one you sell financial, retirement, medical, and insurance products. On the other you sell beer, trucks and cars. On both, you sell Viagra.

Does no one remember when ex-disc-jockey Rush Limbaugh was pro-illegal immigration ... parroting the Chamber of commerce theory that it was the sign of a "healthy economy?" Look it up.

There is nothing wrong with what these talkers do. However, it is very wrong, IMHO, to think that they are some sort of moral or political force to be reckoned with. They have a devoted audience ... including occasionally, me. The Left talks about them incessantly ... but as a distraction.

Cheerful admission: Rush Limbaugh and Ronald Reagan probably did combine to make sure enough men got out to swing the after-Jimmy election and probably made some temporary conversions. After all, RR used to be a Democrat, too. But like all converts the "Reagan Democrats," have either back-slid, or failed to show. We seem to be inexorably oozing backwards into the era when all the real conservatives in the country could meet on the poop deck of the Cyrano for drinks with WFB ... and it wasn't a big yacht.

Newsflash: with a turnout of less than 50%, the Republicans ... particularly under the genetically damaged RNC ... are never going to take a major election. In 2008, McCain lost to the most preposterous candidate ever put up by any party and his lame campaign got nowhere near 50% of registered Republicans to the polls.

Profound post. Uncharted waters is an apt description. I know one thing — conservatives must learn to inform and to entertain. We must learn to fight smart, regardless of party affiliation. I don’t think that cowardly, wonky criticism of BO and his terrorist-loving party will achieve anything other than put people to sleep until a rat wakes them up with fearmongering.

If we hadn’t hammered Bill Clinton during the 90s, and if Ann Coulter had remained in the legal community, Gore would have been a two term president, and we would be under globalist control in ways that are difficult to imagine.

Revolt?? Revolt against who? Why?

The republican party will self-destruct (if it hasn't already) or simply become a "wing" of the democrats. Now...who and what will be the new conservative party??

OK...all well and good for the "AIP".

Who are it's leaders??

And what does the MSM think/feel about them?

Remember: it was the "powerless, useless, discredited, etc." MSM that helped kill mcidiot (ok...he did a good job of that all on his lonesome) and Ms. Palin.

I’m the founder.

AIP’s leaders are almost entirely regular folks you’ve never heard of.

We could care less what the so-called MSM thinks or feels about us. They’re on the other side.

The only way to save the country is for us to become the media...the means by which the truth consistently gets out to the American people.

Did these talkers even get their own listeners off the couch and out the door to vote? No.

4 million fewer registered Republicans showed up for McCain than showed up for Bush. Overall turnout was a point or two higher than in the Bush election.

This indicates that the Democrats were able to motivate, cajole, and invent votes that counted much more when the Republicans failed to show.

.... do immeasurably more than Kenny Bunk to promote conservatism.

During the late lamentable McCain "campaign" I was in constant touch with the producers of every major talker radio show, "selling" the story of Obama's campaign for the Marxist Jihadist Odinga, in Kenya. I included FILM of the churches burned and Odinga's thugs beating members of rival tribes and parties (provided by the BBC, who are no friends of the Republicans). Only one talker, G. Gordon Liddy, even made it the focus of a segment. (To his credit, Hannity managed it without my help) However, no one "went to town" on it. No one in the McCain campaign thought it worth even a mention.

Some 1500 Christians massacred ...Some 150,000 Kikuyu made homeless .... some 800 Christian churches burned ... and Odinga appeared on the stump all over Kenya with Obama, with Dick Morris hovering in the background.... and 98% of your precious talkers NEVER even managed a mention?

I have run for and won local office as a Republican, with Conservative endorsement ... and I still think the RNC ain't worth a tinkers's dam at the moment. Despite having campaigned actively for Fred Thompson, I walked the streets for McCain (with scant assistance from his "campaign") and hosted several events for him.

Without "advertising"...and the support of the MSM, you ain't gonna make it.

The recent history of "third parties" and their candidates is dismal whether or not their idiologies were sound, moral, and/or true.

So...how do you and your party intend to gain enough of the right kind of support to become a "force"?

And remember: you are within the "communist states of obammica".
