Republicans Get on Board (Nicolle Wallace Barf Alert)
The Daily Beast ^ | January 22, 2009 | Nicolle Wallace

Posted on 01/22/2009 7:56:42 AM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

Even some former Bush aides are smitten with the new president. Now, will lefties let the GOP inside the tent?

No American could watch the inauguration of President Barack Obama this week and not feel pride in the splendor and strength of our democracy. No one watching could miss the drama of this moment of challenge and self-examination for our nation—of seeing a man so well-suited to meet the expectations of the office he fills. The presidency is now within reach for any man who dares to dream big enough. It is no longer an office attainable by members of one race, and, hopefully, in short time, it will no longer be an office available to one gender.

Obama deserves our thanks for letting Republicans root for him, as well. He has created a space within his wide net of support for those of us who fought for John McCain’s candidacy by honoring the McCains at a dinner the night before his inauguration and by listening to McCain’s ideas on national security, climate change, and government reform. The Obamas have also returned the civility and warmth directed at them by president and Mrs. Bush in a way that sets this transition apart from others in recent history. This generosity of spirit has had a ripple effect throughout Republican circles.

“The presidency is now within reach for any man who dares to dream big enough. It is no longer an office attainable by members of one race, and, hopefully, in short time, it will no longer be an office available to one gender.”

My tagline speaks for itself on this one.

Nicolle is a leper.

May she go back to her BFF Katie Couric and never be employed by anyone affiliated with GOP politics ever again.

Exactly! I wondered throughout the campaign if John McCain wasn’t his own mole. This was the woman responsible for Sarah Palin’s image, and we wonder why she was so villianized and why us conservatives are on the paranoid end of things.

I mean come on! If the situation had been reversed, and someone responsible for the image of a campaign on the left came out in praise of McCain winning, the left would claim spying and sabatage. So why when we do it, we aren’t being patriotic or “want our country to fail”?

The more I see from McCain and his people, the more I think he purposefully threw the election.
This was a perfect storm for the Obama side... complete media hype and support going his way and his opponent went out of his way to help them demonize not only himself but his running mate.

Actually I didn’t watch any part of the inauguration but throughout my hope is that the splender and strength of our democracy will be enough to weather the next eight years’ assault upon her sacred foundation.

“Even some former Bush aides are smitten with the new president.”

It’s beyond me how anyone could be smitten with such an unaccomplished, narcissistic, self-absorbed POS as 0bama.

I’d give it 50-50.

Its not the inauguration ceremony that we conservatives put down, it is the man and those appointments he has made. His policy and direction he will take America is the problem. He is a hard core left socialists/Marxist that if he carries out his policy it will weaken America and totally destroy our economy. His weak soft approach with our security will reduce us to easy prey all around the world and at home.

Before you blame McCain, think for a moment about how campaigns work. McCain was toting his own luggage when he went to NH, a year later he was the nominee. For good or otherwise. My point is, the RNC provided him - and Palin - with “staff”, who are hired “professional campaigners” that do this for a living. Like Wallace, they are driven by a paycheck, not ideology. And now that the political winds have shifted, they’re all re-aligning themselves to keep or get new jobs.

Just realize what they are and don’t expect more. Had McCain won, Wallace would be singing his praises and everyone would be clipping her articles for their scrapbooks.

I’m pretty certain Obama is going to get his change, for good or ill. Either the country will go the path towards socialism with the bleeting sheep becoming more and more complacent and dependent, or the citizens are going to awaken to the treasure we have in this country and be willing to fight for it. Either way, the country will be different from what it is right now. I expect the former option if this administration lasts eight years, the latter if it lasts only one term.
