These are lovely planes to watch, but tricky to land and takeoff because as a pilot you sit so far back.

They are impressive planes that look like they mean business.

Gee Bee R-1

Jimmy Doolittle flew one of these in the thirties. That he lived to write about it is a miracle.

Outstanding augobiography of General Doolittle.

Another interesting airplane that was all engine.

And if I am not mistaken, some of the remaining Granville Gang went on th work for Chance-Vought, was it Bob Miller or one of the Grandville Brothers....

BTW, the had the pleasure of seeing and meeting Delmar Benjamin and the Late Bill Turner who Built the 1st replica of "The City of Springfield"...
