Limbaugh Slams Obama: Says New Prez is Not a 'Unifier'

Conservative radio king Rush Limbaugh shot back at President Obama this afternoon - saying the new commander-in-chief is "not a unifier and not bipartisan" and is "more frightened of me" than he should be of Republican leaders.

"I think [Obama] wants me to fail," Limbaugh said on his show, rebutting Obamas' comments Friday that GOP lawmakers should not be listening to the right-wing talk show host.

Prez Zings GOP Foe in Stimulating Talk

Limbaugh Fires Back

Obama had warned Republicans on Capitol Hill Friday that they need to quit listening to Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his $825 billion stimulus package.

The conservative blowhard opened his show by saying, "I'm the man you should not be listening, according to President Obama."

Republicans have said that the price tag is too big a burden for a nation crippled by debt and that it doesn't do enough to stimulate the economy by cutting taxes.

"You know, I'm concerned about the size of the package. And I'm concerned about some of the spending that's in there," House GOP Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said after the Friday meeting. "How does that stimulate the economy?"

Limbaugh also said Obama is more than happy to "see me fail."

"He's more frightened of me than he is of John Boehner, which doesn't say much for our party," said Limbaugh.

He then said Obama's comments didn't matter, arguing that the president is "sprinting so far to the left" during his first week in office.

"The Republicans haven't been listening to me, anyway," Limbaugh said. "It's a moot point."

“I honestly can’t remember the last President who was truely a unifier. You would have to go back quite a ways.”

They are not supposed to be...this is supposed to be a two party system...us and the melonheads across the aisle...

The above statement is factually - false. After the Republican candidate was effectively decided, he urged people to vote for Hillary, not Obama, for the express purpose of exposing Obama for what he was. it was called operation chaos.

I am not talking about the period after McCain won the Republican nomination. I am talking about the period before then, when many conservative commentators and others in the grassroots were more afraid of Hillary than anyone. At the time, it was conventional wisdom among conservatives that Obama would be easier to beat.

After McCain won, Rush transitioned into the so-called operation chaos.

Personally, I suspect there were enough crossovers from both major parties to result in an election between the two least qualified candidates.

No, mcjuan cost us the election... he was leading until the economy collapsed and he rushed back to the District of Corruption to institute his communist dream. There is less than 1 degree of separation between hussein the muzzie and juan of amnesty.

Others above have corrected you, but to add....it was clear old media wasn’t willing to bloody Obama so an extended Dem primary provided Hillary the only chance of doing so.

I don’t recall either Bush or Regan picking out lefty reporters like this. Clinton, Obama and Carter all deminish the Office of President. Sad. They are children in the bodies of men.

Actually, Rush used his radio show during the primaries to encourage Republicans to cross over and vote for Obama, because he and many others on the Right thought O would be easier to beat in the general election.

Actually, it's obvious you don't listen to Rush. It was exactly the opposite: he was encouraging people, through "Operation Chaos," to vote for Hillary, since McCain and his supporters made it more than obvious they preferred to run against Obama -- which worked out well, didn't it?

Ignorance is not admirable.

The conservative blowhard ??After 8 years of BDS, it was getting tiresome. Might as well throw ‘Rush’ up against the wall and see if it sticks.
Every ‘progressive’ needs a devil. Someone to blame for their failures. And the ‘progressive’ agenda has failed time and time again.

Rush was doing what he could to get some sort of conservative nominated. They were all not very articulate candidates. Sean was running the stop Hilliary express. Rush was trying to oppose all of them on principle.

The point of operation chaos was really by setting Obama and Hillary at odds and putting pressure on them both to defeat both and give the Republican a chance. It was also to undermine the messianic image of Obama.

The problem was McCain did not campaign in any meaningful way. McCain's defeat would have been worse with out what Rush was doing and without Sarah Palin.

nevadan writes: No, it was the exact opposite. Rush encouraged people to vote for Hillary to keep the Democrat primary close - so close that it might come to a floor fight between Hillary and Obama at their convention. It didn’t happen, but wouldn’t it have been great?

Actually, "Operation Chaos" was about getting people to cross over and vote for Hillary! in the primaries - not so she would be nominated, but to make sure the fight went on as long as possible and that Obama got bloodied up before the general - since the press was not going to challenge him on their own, Rush figured Hillary would.

You claimed that Rush urged his listeners to cross over and vote for Bambi. I don’t recall Rush ever encouraging his listeners to cross over and vote for Bambi, either before Mccain got the nomination or after. Was McCain his choice in the primaries, obviously not, but once he got the nomination he tried his best to help the idiot out. Unfortunately, McCain did his best to lose to Bambi.

I honestly can’t remember the last President who was truely a unifier. You would have to go back quite a ways.

To achieve unity there must be a meeting of minds. There must be some common ground such as patriotism, founding principles, justice or the like.

With leftist policies controlling the Democrat party there is no chance of unity. The left opposes the very existence of Constitutional government. They consider nationalism a sick perversion. They support the extermination of whole segments of the population and the end of free enterprise.

There will be unity when the perversions of the left are left in the dustbin of history.

Rush has some big stones in taking on the President. He really needs to watch his @$$. Der Obama Fuhrer may just have him sent to the “showers” if he’s not careful.
