Food Stamps Will Stimulate the Economy More than Tax Cuts, Pelosi Says Wednesday, January 28, 2009 By Ryan Byrnes

(CNSNews.com) – Food stamps and unemployment insurance will provide more economic stimulus than tax cuts, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday during a telephone press conference.

“(F)ood stamps and unemployment insurance, which affect the people in the states, are necessary at this time when funds are short and the economy is down, (and) actually have the most stimulative effect on the economy,” Pelosi said. “Food stamps first, unemployment insurance next, infrastructure after that, and it goes on from there.”

During the press conference, Pelosi laid out the contents of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which is expected to be passed in the House Wednesday. employment insurance “have the most stimulative effect on the economy,” and as a result are given the greatest priority in the stimulus package.

“Actually, those investments bring a bigger return than the tax cuts,” she said, adding: “but tax cuts where we have them – to the middle class – we think will give us our biggest return.”

The 20-minute news conference also included Govs. Edward Rendell (D-Pa.) and Jim Douglas (R-Vt.).

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will devote $20 billion to “provide nutrition assistance to modest-income families and to lift restrictions that limit the amount of time individuals can receive food stamps,” according to a summary of the plan released last week by the House Appropriations Committee.

Well she could hardly use the proper term 'redistribution of wealth'. Now I do notice she is first and foremost looking out for 'her' return.

And behind the obvious ploy for votes by promising all the freebies ...the EXTREME FAR LEFT traitor party is right on track for their REAL AGENDA...to take our America down the tubes...well, after all there’s no way in this world that the bunch of leftist, Marxists who are pulling the strings behind this whole mess could EVER bring this nation down as long as we have a STRONG MIDDLE CLASS...you know, those who get up , go to work every day, pay the taxes, play by the rules...well, just look at what has happened to the back bone of our nation....all due to cunning planning and traitorous greed at high levels in Washington, D.C. and this could never have happened without the willing consent of BOTH PARTIES....this has been a long time in the planning and it’s all coming together at this time...a “perfect storm” ...a perfectly PLANNED storm.

Here comes total Socialism , leaning toward Marxism...do you see where we are headed...
by now I’m thinking .....remember, we are in Gods’ Hand....and we are not to know what He has in store for our nation.

I haven't seen anyone else point this out, but I'm referring to this quote of hers,

“Actually, those investments bring a bigger return than the tax cuts, but tax cuts where we have them – to the middle class – we think will give us our biggest return.”

She contradicts herself. Are the food stamps, etc. a bigger return or are the tax cuts to the middle class a bigger return? I think it's both if she's talking about the same return from two different places. A bigger return (votes) from people that don't pay taxes by doling out food stamps and a bigger return (votes) from the middle class for cutting their taxes.

Not so long ago, everybody knew this. What happened?

You know, I read something interesting along the lines that increased solar radiation stimulated the human brain to think better. It sort of makes sense if you remember that we are in a period of very low solar radiation right now.

Food stamp = groceries

Tax cuts = jobs/paychecks

2000+ years ago, people were wise enough to know it was better to teach a man to fish than to merely give man a fish..

What’s more insane...the fact that she feels qualified to make economic policy, or that her supporters buy it?

The government is creating a welfare state so that people must depend on the government for everything instead of themselves. This is a very dangerous philosophy because it certainly has the potential of the government turning into a complete socialistic or even communist government where the government tells you how to do everything under the sun abd then you wind up working for the government and everything you make goes to the government, nothing to the individual except what the government deems any person should have and how much they have. This is the basic liberal tenet and philosophy and if people are too stupid to realize what the liberals are trying to do with the power they have then the people will deserve everything they get...or don’t get.

Everything the “government” touches turns to cr@p. They don't care about funding anything..just more power and more programs to get more control. People are so so stupid.

I fear you are right. And she makes NO attempt to hide it. We are just foolish in thinking she actually intends to stimulate the economy. She is all but shoving it into our faces.

“We have gone Galt in our family too. Not sure how it will work though, when the ‘giants’ of industry all are lining up in DC for bail-outs, instead of taking a stand for capitalism. Very sad.”

Actually, (in theory) it will work even faster. The more they spend the money they took (stole) from us taxpayers, the faster it will run out.
Of course they will print up more, but the more they print the more worthless it will be.
Most if not all of the economic system we have now needs to fail. That includes greedy, failing big industries. (ie; the companies asking for taxpayer bail-outs)
It needs to fail before the majority of sleeping sheep will wake up and understand that a socialistic (or worse) society does not work. Never has.

Now the taxpayers could do this quickly, by taking in lower pay, (lower taxes) or by not paying taxes at all.(brave move) Both of these are conscious actions.
But unconsciously it can happen too. If the economy continues to take a dive, less money will go into the system.

Of course the decisions made after the collapse need to be pro-capitalism for any good to come out of the efforts.

The above is my grade-school type understanding of the economy. When I break down all the noise and side show explanations the experts give us, I get the above opinion.
As simple as I know it is, I think it is better than the obvious lies told to us by the current dictators and the MSM.
I do know that we all all going to pay the price for the bad past and present economic decisions. But everyone already knows this.

There is another alternative to taking lower pay or to risking not paying taxes.

There are many legal ways to reduce the amount of taxes you pay, but you need a good/smart tax accountant (and you have to pay him) in order to know and use all of them.

You are correct.
I just would like to see the current dictators lose their stolen money faster then the above action would likely cause.
(I’m impatient and would love to see the crooks faces when they reach for the money and find out the safe is empty. But that is just me.)

Good advice though for all of us. No matter what the motives are.
