White House Unbuttons Formal Dress Code (POTUS AGW HYPOCRITE)
nytime ^ | 1/28/2009 | SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

Thus did an ironclad rule of the George W. Bush administration — coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times — fall by the wayside, only the first of many signs that a more informal culture is growing up in the White House under new management. Mr. Obama promised to bring change to Washington and he has — not just in substance, but in presidential style.

Although his presidency is barely a week old, some of Mr. Obama’s work habits are already becoming clear. He shows up at the Oval Office shortly before 9 in the morning, roughly two hours later than his early-to-bed, early-to-rise predecessor. Mr. Obama likes to have his workout — weights and cardio — first thing in the morning, at 6:45. (Mr. Bush slipped away to exercise midday.)

Business author Tom Peters says that “management by wandering around” is a technique of successful CEOs

Tom probably worked in an office where all the people brought in food and he grazed his way around the office and rather than call it “Executive Grazing” he came up with “management by wandering”.

I had one office I used to go into a couple of times a week and the President would go from one food table to another. He also looked like a whale.

"What's the big deal on this stuff....there's so many more important issues to worry about".

This incantation is getting so stale and trite. I read the same posts all the time on the birth certificate issue.

Let me tell you this.....freepers are able to pat their heads and rub their bellys at the same time.

The glory of this FR forum is that we can analyze the heavy issues all the while picking nits on everything from Michelle and Obama's fashions to Pelosi's frozen botox face.

I, myself, like to "waste time on this petty crap" which you, by the way, are doing also by reading it.

The smallest of Obama's petty crappolas that we read and comment on add to the whole and give us the picture and psychology of the man.

Plus, it's fun to participate on these types of threads.

Now go back to work on the porkulus bill and the Israeli & Afghanistani problems and let us know your analysis later on when we're done enjoying ourselves on this "no big-deal" thread.

Oh, lighten up, will you. I'm not playing your game. You've been around here long enough to know we love picking on commies.

“I have about 15 hanging in the closet and they all shrunk over the last few years.”

I weigh the same and am the same size as I was in high school 55 years ago. Eat lots and work hard!

In order to not have to play “B” football in my freshmen year I worked out 3 days a week and ate 5 meals a day to put on 20 pounds in 30 days to overcome my age deduction since I was a year younger than most other freshmen and have stayed there for the last 57 years.

President Bush was consistently in bed asleep at 9 PM. What does that say about his stamina?

I always found that kind of strange about him. I wonder how many people are like that- in bed before 10 and up by 6?

Guess I'm just not a morning person. 9 or so is when I feel the most awake.

Reagan and Bush never removed their coats in the Oval Office.

So what? This is a non-issue if there ever was one.

“So how long is it before zer0 appears in the oval office wearing this typical Muslim dress?”

I think he should get one of those Snuggies and wear that around.

“Isn’t there a Federal law on the themostat setting in Federal Buildings?”

I think it is supposed to be set no higher than 68F in winter and no less than 74F for summer if running A/C.

Why not? A Snuggie looks a lot like a djellaba, which muslims wear in North Africa. He would feel very comfortable in that.

Nine? You're an early bird. I'm usually not hitting my stride until about 11. But then I get a second wind at 10 PM and work until about 1 AM.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

This has to be the most arrogant/tone deaf, do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do statement EVER! It is beyond belief that Axelrod would potray Obama as having just moved from Hawaii as opposed to having lived in Chicago the last twenty years. But as if that wasn't enough, he tacks on the orchids angle just to make clear how freakin' high the thermostat is.

But notice how the NYT writer, somebody that should be freaking out about not only the carbon footprint but the poor national example made by the Big Kahuna, just rushes right past the hypocrisy and then seems to tout in a positive way the fact that Obama sleeps in later than most Presidents would. I could be wrong but I believe even Bubba got up earlier.

If SNL doesn't jump on this they are beyond repair.

seriously, what’s the big deal on this stuff?

Are you freakin' kidding! This guy is about to tax us to death in regards to Global Warming based on carbon footprint taxes and you don't see the value of highlighting his arrogant hypocrisy that Axelrod enunciated so clearly.

As another Freeper said, Freepers can walk and chew gum. Birth certificate, corrupt Chicago connections are unfortunately old news that apparently have been given a pass. The only way those issues will have any cred again is if we chip away at this guys MSM-enabled armor and show that he is all hat, no cattle. Then and only then will some of the Obama groupies even consider looking behind the curtain.

He COULD just step out the door into the rose garden, but I suspect that when he lights up an ashtray magically appears, to be whisked away to never-never land when he’s finished. He won, you know.
