Obama using Net to lobby for stimulus package

President Obama is back on the campaign trail.

Not literally. But for the first time as president, he is on the stump in the virtual world, heading what political and tech experts say represents Act II of the groundbreaking, tech-savvy political organizing effort that helped take him to the White House.

On Monday, Obama hit the keyboard on behalf of his stimulus package, sending e-mails to millions of his supporters through the group called Organizing for America, ( www.mybarackobama.com), a new arm of the Democratic National Committee.

The recipients include the army of Americans who signed up for campaign e-mails - or did any number of volunteer efforts to support his cause, including writing a check, hosting a house party or doing grassroots campaigning.

"I need your help to spread the word and build support," Obama told them Monday, urging Americans to lobby their legislators on behalf of the package.

That's not all: He is also urging them to host house parties and events to help spread the word. The parties will be held Friday through Sunday, and supporters will be able to visit an Internet site that arms them with the ammunition they need to make Obama's case: downloadable reports, statistics, talking points and state-specific information.

Just two weeks after his inauguration, the president's effort to keep fans engaged represents another generation of grassroots tech organizing - this time not for a candidate, but for an issue at the highest levels of government.

"If Obama using the new technology and new media for politics and for getting elected was Act I, you're watching the beginning of Act II, which is using new media for setting policy, getting through legislation and governing," says Peter Leyden, founder of Next Agenda, a new San Francisco think tank specializing in new media and

It's for zero, so I guess this kind of lobbying by the executive branch is OK.

Doesn’t seem to be doing him much good.

He’s got the msm and some spineless republicans but not many real Americans on board.

I received an e-mail asking me to host an online forum promoting the “stimulus plan”, wrote them back exactly what I thought of the “plan” to indenture our future generations.

“It’s cultish and creepy!”

Yeah , I can see it now...
Sitting at home with their Snuggies on texting and posting and blogging about how it’s not Commie and the right is wrong, and the Messiah will soon turn water into wine.
Plus his approval rating was 80% on the 19th. Today NBC reports that it is now 69%. And of course, all they can do is brag about how it’s the best approval rating for a Prez after an election since Kennedy, blah blah blah. I see a failure waiting to occur.
When the Senate gets done killing the United Socialism Act aka “stimulus” plan, I bet his sorry ass loses another 10% right there, if not more.

I would not trust a NBC poll. His numbers are tanking! RCP had his numbers at only 42% from 1/21-1/29. You know they are tanking now that the American people are getting the news about all of the dem pork in this bill. The internals must be pretty bad if ‘Dear Leader’ has sent such a memo to his cult.....LOL.

Obama’s numbers will be in the toilet by June.
