The Mouse That Porked...

Nancy Pelosi's true rat-like colors have been exposed.
Lawmakers and administration officials divulged Wednesday that the $789 billion economic stimulus bill being finalized behind closed doors in Congress includes $30 million for wetlands restoration that the Obama administration intends to spend in the San Francisco Bay Area to protect, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi represents the city of San Francisco and has previously championed preserving the mouse's habitat in the Bay Area.
Like they say, birds of a feather flock together, and it looks like Pelosi wants to keep her little bay area "flock" well taken care of. I would find it far more appropriate if it was a bunch of San Francisco rats she's wanting to throw away thirty million tax payer dollars on.

What the hell does San Francisco need a marsh full of mice for anyway? Will this thirty million dollars of our money Pelosi is stealing create new long-term high-quality American family-saving jobs? No, but it sure as hell will create more mice.

30 million dollars for more mice, folks. Thirty million dollars of our money. Thirty million dollars of our money for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's little hand full of San Francisco marsh mice.

I can assure you I do not want to pay a cent for Pelosi's pork, money she wants to blow on a damned marsh, nor do I want any of my children - or my children's children - to be stuck with the bill for Pelosi's pet vermin.

Did I hear someone say it's time to rid ourselves of these insane nutcases in Washington?

I agree.

UPDATED:

Talk about a pet project. A tiny mouse with the longtime backing of a political giant may soon reap the benefits of the economic-stimulus package.

The revelation immediately became a political football, as Republicans accused Democrats of reneging on a promise to keep so-called earmarks that fund lawmakers' favorite projects out of the legislation. Democrats, including Mrs. Pelosi, countered that the accusations were fabricated.

Politics aside, the episode demonstrates that no matter how hard lawmakers argue that they technically lived up to their pledge to keep specific projects from being listed in the bill, there is little stopping the federal money from going to those projects after the legislation passes and federal and state agencies begin deciding where to spend their newfound dollars.

Harvest Mouse Pork

Remember how impressed Barack Obama wanted us to be over the notion that the stimulus bill contained no pork?  He claimed that all of the spending went to creating new jobs.  Perhaps we can now call Porkulus the Harvest Mouse Full Employment Act:

House Republicans are challenging Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s claim that the massive stimulus spending bill contains no pet projects after uncovering in the bill more than $30 million for wetlands conservation in her San Francisco Bay area district, including work she previously championed to protect the salt marsh harvest mouse.

“This sounds like spending projects that have been supported by a certain powerful Democrat in the past,” said Michael Steel, spokesman for House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.

“It certainly doesn’t sound like it will create or save American jobs,” he said. “So can Speaker Pelosi explain exactly how we will improve the American economy by helping the adorable little” critter?

Pelosi’s office denies that she inserted this provision into Porkulus.  However, Pelosi has previously championed this effort and the money will get spent in her district.  It looks as if the Speaker is trying a little sleight-of-hand, perhaps by doing what Congress often does: trade earmarks so as to keep the true fingerprints off the pork.

I’m just curious as to how many jobs will get created for the harvest mice.  Maybe Obama plans to use them to power the NEVs that supposedly create no emissions despite relying on electricity that gets generated at coal-burning plants around the nation?  That would be a win-win — at least until PETA stops the exploitation of our furry woodland friends.

I cannot see squandering 30 mil on a mouse, is she living in the USA. Has she been by a soup kitchen in her city? Mouse soup being served yet? what a joke and a waste of tax payers money.
Ms. Pelosi should gather up a few marsh mice and put them in her yard.build a little swamp in her yard, and be a hero,if she is so much more worried about a nouse then a human. We have people starving, kids, humans not mice. need the help NOW. Not a gosh dang mouse. What the heck is she thinking? Never mind I know that answere.
If my family & friends get any more down out out (all taxpayers for yrs btw) we will be eating those mice. never had a 30 million meal out of a mouse yet?
GOD BLESS US ALL with nuts like this in office, oh and I wonder how much we spent on her candy bar give out before the vote? Did we pay for that also, or is she in the candy bar making business, hey Nancy feed the mice those candy bars. fatten them up, most of us need food.
tc all be safe get mad Americans, if we don’t all get united we are in deep trouble, we can get thousands to march for numous things and yet no one is holding these people responsible for OUR money they are throwing away. lets see a million taxpayers march on washington, oh wait they can’t get time of work to pay taxes for the mouse if they take time off.
