Threats send California octuplets mom into hiding

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California's octuplets mom, already jobless and receiving food stamps, has gone into hiding with her six older children because of death threats, her spokesman said on Wednesday.

Nadya Suleman, 33, has come under mounting public ridicule for expanding her already large family via fertility treatments that led to the January 26 birth of six boys and two girls at a Los Angeles-area hospital.

That criticism has mushroomed as it was reported that she was divorced, living with her parents, unemployed for several years, receiving disability checks for three of her children -- one of whom is autistic -- and collecting nearly $500 a month in food stamps.

Death threats are also contemptible.

I agree. The problem is that our Socialist government causes this hatred. If she had these kids and wasn’t on all sort of social services and food stamps (read: OUR MONEY for her INSANITY), she wouldn’t be getting all of this vitriol.

Because then it would be sink or swim.

Instead, you and I are enabling this woman who probably has some real issues to become destructive to herself and her children.

It’s sad to see what socialism brings. And once we get universal healthcare, watch for forced sterilization to become a reality.

I think you’re right...her publicist (which we know she has) must have told her this will up her advance...If I sound cold...it’s because we’ve seen it before...

And forced abortion.

This woman reminds me of the people that "collect" cats etc. The mental illness is the same.

She needs spiritual and mental health counseling, not death threats. If she can be shown that she would be doing the best thing for the children by adopting some of them out to stable two parent families then that would be a biblical response to her situation. Let them be open adoptions so she wouldn’t have to break all ties with them.

But using this case to argue for taking the children away from her by force because she is on welfare is using a bad case to make bad law. If we are going to start with her then we should start taking millions of children away from the mothers who bore and raised them but who are now on welfare. That’s something a totalitarian regime would do.

LOL. No, I agree that threatening someone with death just because they don’t like what someone has done is reprehensible.

No, but it does justify tubal ligation.

Wouldn't have done this lady any good... she bypassed the normal biological processes, thanks to a quacko fertility doc.

If nature were her only option, this nut would [naturally] be childless. The octogods, however, had other ideas. Still wondering who is the octodaddy (supposedly the donor for the other six)... random idiot or the quacko of Beverly Hills? If the Duggers took these kids, they'd have 32, yet would no doubt be showered with unlimited baby gifts, and America would thank them for getting the crazy lady off the TV.

Jobless, on food stamps, and she has a spokesman? What a crock!

If she could afford in vitro, she could afford to live on her own. She chose in vitro.

I wonder if this case is going to start a “sterilize those on welfare” movement.

There was an old lady

She had so many kids
Her uterus fell out...OH!

Yes, there comes a point when what’s done is done, and someone needs to help her. Don’t want the pro-death movement to use her as a poster child. The Pro-life movement probably sees her as a liability if they help, but maybe some faith based groups will help. Or is the Pro Life Council one of the faith based one’s? Can’t remember. :) I also think people should be careful criticizing her for taking disability for her disabled children. Many people do that. A disabled child is extremely expensive, and sometimes you just need help.

Ummm.

Actually, we only have her and her "PR consultant's" word about the threats of violence and death.

By definition, the PR firm (wonder who's paying for that) job is to garner as much sympathy for her as possible and they'll go to ANY lengths to do it. It's part of the image makeover.

I wanna hear and see actual copy of these death threats first.

Death threats are both stupid and wrong. Ridicule, on the other hand is entirely appropriate for this welfare leech.

It’s obvious that she is a self centered, selfish, and disturbed young woman.

I hope that the local welfare agencies keep an eye out on what goes on in her home (her parents’ home) for years to come. Those poor children should be put up for adoption, but she is too selfish.....and stupid.

And when she makes millions from movie deals and interviews, will she be paying back Los Angeles County for the zillions in medical bills that she and her spawn racked up?

Like I said before, how can an unemployed person pay for in vitro after in vitro after in vitro?

Lets see....

No husband (but already has several children)
ON welfare/food stamps
Who paid for the super-expensive in-vitro that got her those octuplets?
Who is paying for the baby’s medical costs?

What the heck is going on?
