Bill Maher on the U.S.: 'It's Still Not a Very Bright Country'

Despite the election of President Obama, Bill Maher is still not happy with his native land, due to the lack of belief in evolution. He voiced his disapproval on Thursday evening’s Larry King Live: “I read the other day, I think only four in 10 Americans believe in evolution. It’s still not a very bright country, Larry.” He later compared Sarah Palin to former American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar: “She’s like a reality show contestant who just lost, and they’re always like, you know, you haven’t heard the end of me. I’m not going. Yes, you are, Sanjaya. Good bye, bye-bye.”

Maher’s criticism of his fellow citizens came three minutes into the 9 pm Eastern hour CNN program. King had asked him about the president’s first weeks in office and the proposed economic stimulus package. Despite the Obama administration’s various problems, Maher defended the president as “learning” and that “he certainly is the smartest guy we’ve had there that I can remember.”

I agree with Bill on this one. At least 51% aren’t.

Bill Maher on the U.S.: 'It's Still Not a Very Bright Country'

I think Maher should emmigrate to France -- that would raise the mean I.Q. in both countries.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Bill Mahr is human trash, but he’s right about Americans, just for the wrong reason. Americans are, in general, uninformed and unconcerned. The evidence:

President Obama.

I disagree with the ‘thinking’ that formed his opinion, however, his opinion is pretty much on the mark.

“I read the other day, I think only four in 10 Americans believe in evolution. It’s still not a very bright country, Larry.”

In defense of the other six out of ten...ugly, arrogant, hate-filled nasty people like Bill Maher do make one question the theory of evolution.

A theory of devolution, however...

I wonder what HE knows about evolution that makes him so sure everyone who doesn’t believe it is a dunce.

And why is this country not very bright? The blame should go to the educational system which seems to exist to provide employment for adults instead of educating children.

Evolutionists are always blathering about believing in "science," but rely wholly on blind faith and their prejudices. It's not as if Maher ever scientifically studied and determined that creationists are less intelligent than evolutionists. I've read hundreds of books on the subject and the accumulation of evidence has pushed me ever further from Darwinian fundamentalism. My parents have a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in life sciences and both are creationists as well. You've got people like Dr. Jonathan Sarfati, the creationist who plays chess against a dozen opponents while blindfolded and wins every game, involved in debunking evolutionism.

Maher is going to have to stop assuming his positions and start searching for the evidence. Because the primary reason that most self-proclaimed "smart" people believe in evolution is because they keep telling themselves that that is so, and viciously and self-righteously persecute those who do not. Citing your own bigotry as evidence for your position (as evolutionists commonly do when pointing to the censorship of non-evolutionary papers in evolutionary literature) is comical, for example.

When will we hear about the end of Bill Maher?

He got booted from ABC from a show that hardly lived up to its title, and now he’s on HBO. Couldn’t HBO have picked up “Brotherhood” (from Showtime) instead of subjecting viewers to this annoying loser?

How on earth do ugly, talentless creatures like Bill Maher manage to get a show? Why is he paid?

“Bill Maher is still not happy with his native land,”

I thought his native land was either the USSR or Nazi Germany. He is a anti-American Nazi or Communist so he must have come from there after.

Bill Maher was the one who said he was certain that one day John Edwards would be President. I still get a laugh out of that.

What is strange is that while I believe in evolution, I am positive this idiot will same I not bright due to my support of Sarah Palin.

I loathe this guy!!! May he continue to “think” he is superior to conservative thought. He is so angry because he looks like a dweeb.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Maher labors under the delusion that he is in the smarter group. He is actually the poster child for the old quotation,”It ain’t all the things a man don’t know that makes him stupid, it’s all the things he knows damned well that ain’t so”. George W. Bush would be more intelligent drunk than Maher has ever been sober.
