I completely support stay-at-home Moms (or Dads). But if the Mom is home and the Dad gets 1 year off with 2/3 pay, then neither parent is working. You mention traditional Muslim families being large. What’s your analogy compared to the German situation?
I’m not sure the best way to handle it, but once women were allowed to enter the workforce, having a family simply became one of a number of options, rather than just about the only game in town.
Unfortunately, that option doesn’t pay very well (in most societies), so lots of women forgo kids, and societies (like Japan - big time) enter a death-spiral, where there basically are not any kids left (some, but much fewer than necessary to sustain the population).
Europe is handling it differently, they’re simply giving up on their Western heritage and allowing the continent to become Muslim. It’s their choice, but it does lead to a lonely world for us, soon.
