FDA Declares Vitamin B6 A Drug

The FDA has effectively banned a naturally-occurring form of vitamin B6 called pyridoxamine by declaring it to be a drug, reports the American Association for Health Freedom. Responding to a petition filed by a drug company, the FDA declared pyridoxamine to be "a new drug."

Now, any nutritional supplements containing pyridoxamine will be considered adulterated and illegal by the FDA, which may raid vitamin companies and seize such products. See the history of FDA raids on vitamin companies here: http://www.naturalnews.com/021791.html

Pyridoxamine occurs naturally in fish, chicken and other foods (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B6), putting the FDA in the strange position of banning a substance from dietary supplements even though it is already present in the food supply.

There were some deaths associated with L-Tryptophan years ago. They did take it off the market, although it was unclear if that was a fully thought out decision.

There was a problem that was attributed to the product over and above deaths, but I don’t remember exactly what it was, or if it was completely disassociated with the adulterated product.

Interesting: Here is a story about how the Biotech firm who patented B6 was having a little trouble until they got Big Brother involved.

Better not drive around with a bottle of Centrum Silver in your car, otherwise the DEA/LE may seize your car and your shirt, felon.

Looks like the pharm companies bought themselves exclusive access to B6.

See how corporate corruption buys us socialism/fascism?

It won’t be long until mandrake is banned as well.

....and fluoride mandatory.

The outlook for our precious bodily fluids looks dim.

pyridoxine referred to as pyridoxamine

Here's a brief backgrounder on the nomenclature, for what it's worth.

B6 I was always told would be good for menstrual cramps and migraines. Since these 2 maladies are predominently ocurring in woman it seems to be discriminitive!

The Vitamin Bs have generally been considered good for people. I just check our cereal boxes, and four out of five had Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) listed as in ingredient.
