Senate Republicans Standing Tall! (California Senate)
FlashReport ^ | Feb 15, 2009 | Jon Fleischman - Publisher

Posted on 02/15/2009 6:25:50 PM PST by BAW

This morning, treating the members of the California State Legislature like they are criminals, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the Assembly literally have the Capitol on "lock down" -- no legislators are allowed to leave the building. Why is this?

EARLIER THIS MORNING, SENATOR DAVE COX ANNOUNCED THAT HE WILL NOT SUPPORT THE BIG-5, BIG-TAXES BUDGET PROPOSAL. COX HAS JOINED WITH TWELVE OF HIS SENATE REPUBLICAN COLLEAGUES AND BECAUSE THERE IS A VACANCY IN THE SENATE, THERE ARE NO LONGER THE VOTES TO GET A TWO-THIRDS FOR THE MASSIVE, RECORD-BREAKING $14 BILLION++ IN NEW TAXES.

Our message to Senate Republicans is loud and clear: THANK YOU AND KEEP HOLDING THE LINE.

Millions of California families that the Democrats would punish because of Democrat over-spending, slapping families with a projected annual tax increase of over $1200 a year (some say it's over $1500 a year) are COUNTING ON YOU.

That is a lot of money per family. I'm not willing to pay an additional $1200 to $1500 for the same crap.

Lets hope the Republicans in Cali manage to kill the bill at least temporarily. I am sure the empty seat will be filled with a Democrat soon.

Does anyone know who is paying the fiddler? The music will stop, and then everyone will have to find a chair. I hear a might ROAR, a flushing sound, of people leaving that State when welfare checks bounce.

It’s funny how fast a big state can go in the toilet once they decide to take on Mexico’s poverty problem.

They’re probably “not allowed” in the sense that, if they leave, they may lose the vote. I don’t think they are handcuffed to their seats.

If you are a CA resident, go here to find your rep and leave them a little Valentine note about voting no.

Call your Senator’s office and thank them for standing tall!
(Yep... they’re there. Senate convenes again in 10 minutes)

I think I would have the Speaker arrested for false imprisonment. That would take his sorry ass off the list of Democrats that can vote for the bill as well.

Bingo! One hospital here in Fresno provided 136 million dollars in unpaid health care this year. The illegal trespassers need to go home.

I am not in Cali, yet would it be reasonable to ask: I know some of your counties are upset as Sacremento, and are “withholding” funds from the state capital, I know with the recent “cease and decist 10th Amendment resolutions spreading around the rest of the nation, even leading to dare I say it “Secession” if called for”, would it be possible for some of your counties that feel/are gyped to issue the same kind of warnings to the State gov in Sact? Afterall isn’t the eastern and norther parts of the state much different from your coast anyway? Maybe they should reform the “STATE OF JEFFERSON”? just a thought from a non-CAfornian out here in the heartland watching this fiasco with both disgust (and delight) that RINOS are getting their “cumupance”

I think the answer is that yes, this is legal; typically, and this applies to Congress too, the presiding officer of the legislative body orders the sergeant-at-arms to round up members and bring them, at gunpoint if necessary, to the legislative chamber. Remember the fiasco in Texas a couple of years ago—rather than be arrested by Texas state troopers and brought to the Capitol in Austin to be forced to participate in a quorum, a number of ‘Rat state legislators made for the border and set up shop in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
