Mix breeds make great family pets
Let me tell you of my experience with Papillon rescue. I owned a Pap, so I know the breed. Although I told the people I spoke to about that, they seemed to treat me like a dunce.
Two would not even consider us. One for have children under 12 and the other for not having a fenced yard. I explained that my girls were homeschooled and gentle. I asked that they meet the girls and was blown off. To the other, I explained that we planned to have a house dog (I’ve always had house dogs), and that we have a fenced dog run with a house on our property. That didn’t matter at all. Fence or nothing.
The third was willing to give us a Pap if they could inspect the house. Fair enough. I was then informed that over the next two years, they would drop by without warning and if they didn’t like how things were, they would take the pup. NO WAY was I going to let my girls get attached to a dog then have her taken for any reason.
Sorry, my experience with rescues are that they don’t want dogs to go to “Forever Homes” I’m sure there are good ones, but my experience has not been this way.
The problem with looking for a mixed breed is size. You have no idea what a pup will grow into. When you go to the Humane Society, it is rare to find a small breed. Most are Chow and Pit mixes. We wanted a small dog. Our Minnie is perfect.
I have 2 rescue dogs, one from Florida a yellow male lab & one from Georgia a black female lab/terrier. I had both “fixed” because I am a responsible animal owner. I’m beginning to wish that the parents of the yo-yo’s who are thinking up these stupid government control bills would have been spayed or neutered.
We need to start getting rid of all of those so called Republicans including Crist & sweep out Bill Nelson along with the rest.
