Fears of a return to the Fairness Doctrine usually focus on conservative talk radio shows, like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck. But, often overlooked is the potential impact the Fairness Doctrine would have on Christian radio, specifically religious speech.
Since the beginning of February, three prominent former and current Democratic politicians have come out and vocally supported reinstituting the Fairness Doctrine. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., said it was absolutely time to pass a standard. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, came out with a similar message, saying, We need the Fairness Doctrine back. And former President Bill Clinton said, You either ought to have the Fairness Doctrine or we ought to have more balance on the other side.
But, the return would also harm religious speech according to a senior Republican senator, James Inhofe, Okla., and the senior vice-president of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), Craig Parshall. Both are warning religious broadcasting is facing a threat.

It looks like things may beheading that way real soon.
Oops! I meant “be heading”.
What, are the Churches going to be next...?
That’s where I’ll be guarding the door, armed.
It is all part of America’s deathwish and the magical “change” that Obama promised and so many Christians voted for.
This would help the Left’s agenda to silence the Christian voice.
There was a Christian Station in LA that was shut down by the FCC, more than 30 years ago, and he went satellite, but his name escapes me.
Does it only apply to radio? Or could conservatives force ABC to give equal time to counter the shrill man-hating bitch-fest known as “The View”.
Many churches are also podcasting now...
Is the Internet next? on what basis?
Christian radio will have to get equal time with Islam, Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist, Hinduism, Chinese traditional religion, Buddhism, primal-indigenous, African Traditional & Diasporic, Sikhism, Juche, Spiritism, Judaism, Baha’i, Jainism, Shinto, Cao Dai, Zoroastrianism, Tenrikyo, Neo-Paganism, Unitarian-Universalism, Scientology, Rastafarianism, and Pastafarianism.
They would also have to make sure that all religions participate regardless of whether they want radio time or not. Otherwise, they could risk offending someone and we wouldn’t want that.
This from what I hear it will mostly effect christian Bible teachers from talking about what the Bible says about homesexuality. Already christian broadcasters who broadcast in Canada are banned from saying certain things about homosexuality.
Can we please collect the best counter-attack ideas for the “fairness doctrine?” So we can look at them + brainstorm, and develop an approach that might actually work?
I’m seeing lots of anxiety, but I haven’t seen any practical tactics that could defeat it. The most comfort I’ve gotten is “Don’t worry, we’ll sue the bejeesus out of the democrats.” OR “Don’t worry, that could never happen.”
But each time I think something could “never happen,” five minutes later the democrats sign it into law.
Promising a bunch of lawsuits isn’t making me feel any better. We’ve gotta do better than that — BEFORE they try writing the legislation.

So basically this is saying that YOU the citizens are too stupid to decide what you listen to or watch or read without the Government telling you what to listen to or watch or read.....
Who said Communism was dead...............
I don’t know. Anyone here a lawyer?
What, are the Churches going to be next...?
Thats where Ill be guarding the door, armed.
Amen brother...........But yes the Christian faith and Church will be attacked during this Socialist Administration. As will the Jews and a few others. The muslims of course will be left alone because they are afraid of them...

I thought sexuality in the home was OK?
This is very true. We have three stations here in my Southern town - two Evangelical stations and one Catholic station - that I’m sure will be under attack. They’re skin-of-the-teeth operations, but anything is a threat to the Bambi World Order.
I saw that before clicking POST and I thought I typing in the O instead of the E but I geuss not. LOL!
