Thanks, roses of sharon! CNBC needs to hear some positive feedback.

“Things like Drudge’s sensational CNBC revolt are the exact antithesis of how Obama and the Dems need to be handled.”

I think you’re wrong because there are many conservative democrats who voted for Obama who were outraged by the stimulus plan and who will be outraged by the home bailout plan.

And I think Obama recognizes this as well. Below is quote from Obama where he essentially attempts to pre-empt this very criticism. BTW, this quote is from a WSJ article this morning that goes on to point out that the substance of Obama’s quote is plainly not true.

Obamam quote regarding the housing baliout plan: “Let me be very clear about what this plan will not do: It will not rescue the unscrupulous or irresponsible by throwing good taxpayer money after bad loans . . . And it will not reward folks who bought homes they knew from the beginning they would never be able to afford.”

He is their ‘on the ground’ guy at the CME in Chicago. I usually catch him on Squawk Box, but I believe is on Squawk on the Street and some of their other shows (during the day) as well.

Usually weekdays around ~8AM on Squawk Box.

“We should ask a focus group how they feel about revolution before we do anything. Quick, somebody call Frank Luntz.”

Actually, yes, that would be prudent. Or find someway to gauge the national political pulse to see if a certain fight is even possible. Just like in the Art of War:

“So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will fight without danger in battles.

If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.”

Or my translation: data, data, data. The more you have the better your chances.

I just cannot believe that the Dem numbers are so high.

NOt among voters, with race represented as it is in the population.

this latest gambit comes with a price tag that our kids and grandkids will be on the hook for for the rest of their lives.

The federal debt will NEVER be repaid. No way is a future majority of Hispanic working families going to pay off a debt incurred in the form of backdoor reparations to blacks during the crash of 2008-09.

“I think you’re wrong because there are many conservative democrats who voted for Obama who were outraged by the stimulus plan and who will be outraged by the home bailout plan.”

I would absolutely love to believe that statement. Do you have numbers, data, anything other than anecdotal evidence to support this claim. Because Obama approval is hovering between 60 and 63%, 10 points higher than election day. Democratic congressional approval ratings are up 25 points to 43% and Republican congressional approvals are down 4 points to 19%.

Like I said, I would love to believe your statement because that means what the Republicans are doing is indeed working. But the numbers say the opposite and thus a new tactic, even moreso, a new strategy has to be designed and implemented.

“Hope and Change: Police pull over man for anti-Obama sign”

You people think I’m over-the-top about what’s coming.

Your country is falling.

Please, if you can’t fight for yourselves then fight for your children who wil pay a much higher price for the actions of the left!

Please, Americans, look around, compare this to what it used to be like in this country.

Look at people’s moods.

Observe the fear—on both sides.

This is not what America was meant to be, or has been.

We are better than this and we deserve better than this.

You are the descendents of fighters and people who would be free or die trying to wrench their freedom from opressors.

They, like you are, were the end-of-the-line, freedom’s last hope.

If we forget, if we do not fight, if we sit idle WE WILL LOSE WHAT SO MANY HAVE SACRIFICED FOR.

Why the revolution?

Why the world wars?

Why the countless, countless lifetimes spent building America in all her glory?

Will we squander our birthright and the only country in human history to bring the crazy notion of human freedom to frution?

Will we not heed the call now, maybe the biggest battle for freedom we have EVER faced—an attack from within?

It is so hard to witness and I am so scared for my children. What sacrifices will they take on to save their freedom, or even their lives?

This “rant” by Rick is more potent than ANYTHING 0bama has EVER said. The cry for freedom takes on many forms. And it comes from real pain.

BELIEVE ME, the pain will get worse if we stay silent.

Fight for your freedom!

jackmercer,

Do you ever watch Squawk on the Street?

Believe me when I say that I have never seen anythig like that segment. They outrage of those traders was unrehearsed and spontaneous. Did you see how it caught the talking heads back in the studio off guard?

A loan modification program for the few is the dumbest thing Obama could do right now it will foster envy, resentment, and ultimately anger in a majority or homeowners (naturally I hope he does it.)

Not sure, but part of the text from the bill reads "To meet other appropriate needs, as defined by the Secretary of Homeland Security."

“The sheeple voters just saw a Republican administration bailout Wall Street with a TARP and 2 trillion Fed Reserve guarantees and loans. They saw Wall Street bask in years of profits on taking risks and then had their losses from these same risks socialized. All upside, no downside.

So in this respect I can see how the Dems will counter your argument in a heartbeat as hipocrisy. No matter that it was the Bush administration and not the Congressional Republicans, sheeple see them as one.”

There is a big difference. TARP funds thus far have been used to make investments in banks that do have to be paid back to the governement. These investment were made, thus far, in the form of preferred stock that does provide a return, albeit not a large return. And, in fact if the funds are not repaid within five year, the coupon rate rises significantly. Notice that the government has maintained that it is very likely that its ultimate losses could be a small fraction of the total funds comitted to TARP (and its successors).

This is not the case, as I understand it thus far, with the housing bailout. These funds are going out with no chance of coming back. There appears to be no recapture if housing prices subsequently rise. It appears to be a flat out subsidy.
