Tell him that someone who was at Stanford during the student protests in the early 70s and hung around some of the Joan Baez and Black Panther sorts thinks you are right. It's property rights where the fight for freedom revolves, not hippie socialism (hey, I was part of that, it was and is a form of narcissism not revolution).
