President Obama's Green Energy Oops. Namaste.

Namaste Solar is the Colorado company that served as the backdrop for President O's green energy initiative. Namaste employees are all on the same pay scale, regardless of the role they play in the company - as if all positions contribute equally to the success of the company. Those same employees collectively make all major company decisions, with majority-rules voting on policy and direction! They act as if popular wishes (which is just another phrase for un-educated perceptions on how business ought to work) are the same thing as good business sense. OMG!

It does not surprise anyone who understands what it takes to create, expand, and sustain a business, that Namaste has perpetually been on the verge of collapse. Nobody, from the idealistic founder down to the janitor, has any real-world business sense. They do, however, have a basket load of idealistic visions of "cooperative workplace" values and "egalitarian economics." When people talk about "democracy for the economy" and "democratic socialism," Namaste is the kind of thing they have in mind.

I learned this stuff 20 years ago, while traveling among the Leftists - before struggling to start my own businesses, and before I took control of my own retirement portfolio. (There's nothing like hunting your own food to make you face reality.)

How pathetic and how funny. And our brilliant president and his savvy staff chose this group of bean sprouts to showcase as the energy producers of the future! If it is left up to Namaste (which means, I think, “the God in me salutes the God in you”) we will all be sitting in caves huddled around camp fires. Namaste gets the green light and the people who want to drill in Western Colorado and Utah for natural gas get the shaft. We are so screwed.

So, this being the case, why does The President make more money than most of the rest of us, and have secret service protection, etc, that the rest of us don’t have?

Yeah, why? Colorado has that National Renewable Energy Laboratory that we’ve been pouring money into since the Clinton administration. Wonder when that investment is going to pay off? I’m not holding my breath yet. I’m thinking this kind of research has to be reality based, and so far I’m not seeing a lot of reality.

NREL does “annuity research.” It’s kind of like poverty or race hustling. It will never ever go away because the problems a) cannot be solved and b) if the problems were ever solved, a lot of people would be thrown out of work. NREL is a perpetual research lab that will never go out of business.

Maybe the Obama administration can start to harness the power of Unicorns ... and rainbows. But especially the unicorns, which make great biodiesel.

And the rainbow harnessing would be self-sustaining, because of all that gold at the end, right?

Well, no, because the annoying thing about all that gold at the end of the rainbow is, that when you walk over to where the end is, the rainbow moves away from you. They haven’t thought of teaming up yet, though: one person stays still and identifies where the end is, and the other guy goes to get the gold. Don’t tell them, please. It’s my little secret.
