(Iowa) State Officials Ban Tea From Tea Party-(Violates Clean Water Act!)

Via Snapped Shot and STACLU comes news that Iowa state officials have banned the use of tea by Tea Party protesters holding an event tomorrow in Cedar Rapids.

The tea violates environmental standards because it will discolor the water:

A Cedar Rapids group will do a symbolic tea dumping into the Cedar River on Saturday because state officials won’t let them use the real thing.

An anti-tax group wanted to pitch in real tea like the Bostonian revolutionaries opposed to England’s tea taxes.

Tea, although natural and quite tasty, is considered a pollutant that can’t go into a body of water without a permit, said Mike Wade, a senior environmental specialist at the DNR’s Manchester field office.

“Discoloration is considered a violation,” Wade said. What would our Founding Fathers say?

If I was there, or if I had any influence with the people who will attend, I would definitely bring a tea bag (just one) and ask everyone else to do so also. Then, I would say we should definitely throw the teabags in the water and take the consequences. If it is a large group, a mass arrest would force media attention on the protest and the stupidity and heavy bootheel of this idiotic ban on the teabags and I think the authorities would be forced to withdraw any enforcement.

I'd do that, and also have someone a couple of miles upstream unload many, many cans of ice tea mix. F'em - the whole point is to demonstrate against too much government, so it is either violate the law or stay home.

Does ANYONE think that it was lawful for those "Indians" to dump a shipload of tea into Boston harbour? COME ON - the whole POINT is to break the law.

Dump away or the Tea Party movement ends because of a bunch of cowards. Are we really going to let the central planning leeches tell us what to do?

What would our Founding Fathers say?

They'say this "tea party" is merely feel-good symbolism that while providing a diversion for the
media on a typically non-news day, will do nothing to persuade those who hold the reins of power -
The One and the democRAT/RINO infested Congress.

Now maybe if all across the country, public officials were tarred and feathered, including
environmental bureaucrats, and their automobiles and SUV's rolled over and thrown in rivers...

Tea no good? How about we wait until July 4 and then dump the stuff in their backyard pools?
And how about we use cater-sized bags of tomato paste instead of tea bags?

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. — C. S. Lewis

I agree and that is why I never use water in my tea. I more often than not use a couple shots of Knob Creek.

The group in Cedar Rapids is protesting a 1-cent local option sales tax to go before voters Tuesday. Most of the money (17-18 million forecast) is to go for housing assistance and buyouts of homes that were destroyed BY THE RIVER!?!? in the June 2008 flood.

I don’t think a little tea is going to hurt the river.
