"I'm not about to concede that some sort of critical mass has been achieved, and the majority of people are of that sort."

Well - they have achieved MAJORITY representation in the House and Senate and have moved their ineligible black racist and narcissistic poseur into the White House.

Take a look at many of our major cities - where they clearly have held "critical mass" and directed the death spiral of those cities into the abbess..... with enough momentum to effect the entire state. My own state of Kalifornicate is facing bankruptcy as a result the "enemy" gaining "critical mass".

They are using their current grasp of power to enact legislation and spending to further consolidate their position and strengthen their grasp on power - while at the same time doing everything necessary to weaken the free market forces and individual freedoms necessary to our society..

When would YOU consider them as having achieved "critical mass" -- after the frog in tepid water has been boiled to terminal condition, consumed and converted to fecal matter?

The "critical mass" to which I referred would be when we get past the point of "no turning back." I hope that's not the case, but someday, who knows. I think that day will be evident when the government elite no longer even try to pay "lip service" to the Constitution.

I agree with you completely. And if we can get "real conservatives" elected into local and state positions, we well as the house and senate, people who can state, for the record, what conservatism is, then there's still hope. I honestly believe that the reasons the republicans lost their majority in the house and senate was because they abandoned conservatism, and became the "party of not quite as big government." A lot of conservatives stayed home during this last election cycle. A lot of Libertarians (big and small) either sat it out, or in a Randian hope of helping to hasten the end, voted for the dems. Because the republicans really didn't give us anyone to vote FOR.

Rush said that the "default" for people is towards freedom and liberty. I agree. Unfortunately, far too many are willing to take the easy path, when promises are made. But I still believe that the vast majority would be willing to vote conservative if only a decent candidate were run, and there was a good voicing of the sort of things Rush had to say last night.
