We slid into socialism when the Income Tax was enacted in the early 20th century. It’s amazing to me that it took nearly 100 years to demolish the economy thanks to the transferees and their rampant behavioral pathologies.

You are correct. The wheels of socialism were set in motion long ago. I would also include the 17th Amendment as a pivotal moment as well. The Senate is nothing more than populist whore house these days. So much for a dignified upper house beholden to state legislators rather than corporations and special interest.
